hamster poo

we've had our hamster Nibbles for 4 months (first family pet). at first, Nibbles used the corner of the cage as a bathroom, just like the hamster book said.

Then he started poo-ing in the hamster house but still used the corner to wee. now he does both in the house, then then sleeps on the stinky mess.

Is this normal for hamsters? Is there anything I can do to encourage Nibbles not to sleep on poo?

We're novice hamster owners too. Ours always wees in the same place but poops wherever he fancies even in his food bowl.
I'm thinking it doesn't bother him.

When I change his bedding and clean out the cage I put some of his peed on bedding back in the same place.

I did read that you can create a hamster loo out of a jam jar on its side though I haven't tried it.

My DD1 is onto numbers 5 and 6, she knows lots now but initially went on a forum called hamsterhideout.com. She got lots of good advice on there. This was a couple of years back so I don't know how active it is now.

It is totally normal. I've had Syrian and winter whites in the past and all pooed in their beds.
