Electric heat pad or heater in hutch

We have GP's currently in the garage but I am worried about the cold. I know you can get microwave pads but just can't face something that's been in a hutch going in microwave ( I know it might sound a bit OCD!). Does anyone have an alternative heat source? I have seen heat pads with anti chew cables and just wondered if anyone uses one ? Thanks

I've seen the electric heat pads but I really wouldn't trust my little blighters Grin, puppies / dogs maybe, little rodenty teeth where I cannot see what they're up to............... no

I saw some very nice but ££ whelping boxes (heat, remove plug so nothing to chew) but they were really pricey and I could put money on the fact mine wouldn't use it Hmm

We put a small oil filled heater on a stool (it's clamped to the stool and the cable is hooked up out the way)

I pt it on 30 minutes before they go out to take the chill off then leave it on low.
Mine are in a wooden Pighouse (old playhouse) I did consider the garage for them but ours is freezing.

If you wrap the Snuggle pad in newspaper, then give a wipe with a food safe bacterial spray would that be ok for the microwave?
