This is my new girl, no idea on breed other then she's very hairy. My dd wants to call her hairy lemon but I think I'll stick with Honey. She's lovely and will be introduced to my other 3 girls over the next few days.

<thinks to self> "perhaps some kind of messy rex abbyruvian? How scruffy can it possibly be?"

<clicks on thread>

That is one scruffy pig.

A nightmare to groom though, I imagine.

She's like a walking toupe with a leg on each corner, I've never seen one this scruffy. Bath and trim once she's settled in are definitely in order!

I was thinking a lunky but she's more curly so something else in there perhaps. The person my dh got her from reckoned she was a very rare Syrian guninea pig hmm

ElizabetaTorres Tue 19-May-15 19:02:58

She looks pretty small under all that fluff.

ImBrian Tue 19-May-15 19:07:04

Yes she's supposed to be about 1 but feels very light not much bigger then my 3 month old piggies. I'll weigh her in the next day or so and go from there.

ElizabetaTorres Tue 19-May-15 19:20:02

I was thinking she looked adult but tiny IYSWIM. Still, so cute. And I think you're wrong to go with Honey instead of Hairy Lemon but what do I know grin

She looks lovely bless her. Is she an ex-breeder? May be why she's a little girl?
or Alpaca ( apparantly a Peruvian/Texcel cross) It used to be so much easier when you had Smooth Pigs or Abby Pigs. That was it !

That's alot of fur a little piggie smile
Is her coat nice or will you need to get in there with a comb ?

ImBrian Tue 19-May-15 20:30:27

I'm not sure of her history, so it's possible she's been bred from. She looks as though she's been brushed regularly and her furs very soft, I've given her a quick check over and there's no mats or visible tangles but her bum needs a good wash and trim. She pongs!

My dds have called her hairy lemon, three year old dd has just been explaining to my best friends boyfriend that mammy has a hairy lemon!

ImBrian Tue 19-May-15 20:31:36

I'm googling texel and alpaca smile

I've often thought when my Millie pig gets in a flap about claw clipping and sheds smooth hair all over me - there is enough hair to knit a new guinea pig. If Hairy Lemon is the same you are going to be absolutely covered grin

She is very cutesmile

What part of you does friend's bf suppose is your Hairy lemon wink

ImBrian Wed 20-May-15 13:54:27

I didn't stick about to find out, I'm hoping they don't share the same story with their teachers today!!

I'm guessing I'll be able to knit a matching blanket, though one of my smooths seems to shed more.

ImBrian Wed 20-May-15 15:52:23

I just weighed her and she's only 536g! No where near a year and a half old like I was told I'm guessing.

FernieB Wed 20-May-15 16:35:19

That's small! My baby Gingerpig is 3 months old and weighs more than that but he is a substantial bruiserconfused.

Like the idea of knitting a spare pig from the extra hair.

ElizabetaTorres Wed 20-May-15 17:17:40

I've had heavier ratgirls!

70isaLimitNotaTarget Wed 20-May-15 19:31:17

Aww she looks like a Tribble or one of those mysterious fish-in-fur creatures that was found in the Atlantic grin

My little sow (had a litter before she came to us) was 688g when we got her last July . Now she's 1031g (but she;s been very serious about her intensive eating and applying the Lardiness)

ImBrian Wed 20-May-15 19:56:17

Hairy Lemon Honey is working very hard at developing her lardiness even when being groomed earlier she stopped her huffing and puffing long enough to shove a bit more pepper down.

70isaLimitNotaTarget Wed 20-May-15 20:01:00

Y'know that she'll need a MN knickname so will forever be known as HairyLemonPig wink

ImBrian Wed 20-May-15 20:53:50

I've spotted ScruffyPig and GingerPig from reading through some threads. I think HairyLemonPig is a fab MN nickname for her.
