Mites and worming guinea pigs

I had rabbits until I was about 25. I vaccinated them but never did anything for worms/mites etc. I was reading the adoption paperwork for our new guineapigs (first time we've had them) and it says I must protect against them. Does that mean use a spot on? And how do you worn a guinea pig? In fact how do they even get worms? Any advice on te above would be greatly appreciated for a newbie Smile

Hi ms

i never wormed my guineas I had as a child but I have no control over what walks round my garden (though worms are animal specific).

We use Xeno 450 on ours - drop on the neck. It doesn't protect against ringworm though.

If your pigs are mini-pigs there's a lower doseage one for them .When I got our Rescue piggies they were all pre-treated .

Get yourself some Gorgeous Guineas Shampoos (they have treatment shampoos, melts, gorgeous fur shampoos if you get long haired pigs, Boar Shampoo Grin )
They do trial bottles for a couple of £ and are really helpful. I emailed when I was bonding out 3 pigs to find the most scented one (to make them all Pig Neutral Smell ) and they replied quickly.

You'll need to supply pigtures of course. 'Tis the Law Wink
