Our lawn has had new has seed added to it as its full of bare patches.
How long do you reckon the GPs need to stay off the lawn? We've kept a patch for them untreated but there's hardly any grass there at all.

Keep them off until it grows and you can cut it. Guineas shouldn't eat seeds . Most grass seeds are treated with bird repellant and moisture holding agents.Very new grass is too rich , increase their risks of bloat (not to mention the little blighters undoing all your work)

DH seeded a patch near the Pighouse last year , I cut some of the grass when it was about 5" long, pigs were very pleased.

If you keep 'their' patch well watered at night and move the run round their patch, they'll be okay.

(Our lawn is rubbish at the moment but we're having garden work done soon, so it'll be raked and cut after.)

I thought that too, 70. DH insists they'll be fine but I knew I was right Grin
