Do I cut them or put the guineapigs out everyday on concrete first to see if that helps

Cut them, they aren't energetic enough for wearing down nails . Though once you have sorted them out, then they might be able to keep them trim.

Mine won't walk on hard floors. Not on laminate. Not on bathroom tiles. Not on kitchen tiles. Not even on cardboard. They compromise on newspaper "if I must"

Long nails mean the quick gets longer too (if the quick does get too long, cut little and often to shrink it back without blood shed. Easier if your guineas are considerate enough to have pink nails not black ones)

Very long nails (the type you see on neglected piggies can actually cause fractures as they walk on their heels)

I must get my boys claws sorted tomorrow. (I cut, DD holds. We usually emerge fairly unscathed but the boys are very judgey afterwards) Grin

Cut them just as 70 says. If they are inconsiderate enough to have black claws you can get an obliging child to shine a torch on the claw so you can see the quick better. If you do accidentally nip the quick and it bleeds you can dip the claw in cornflour to stop the bleeding (a tip I picked up on here which unfortunately I had to try and it does work).

You will also need lots of bribes to get them to stay still. Good luck Wink

Jings 70 - how many claw clipping threads did you find? How bored are you? Very helpful though. You should win the award for the Top GP Ambassador this month Grin. All you need is a reference from GP3 and the awards yours Wink

How bored am I? Grin

Actually I'm just mid-way between putting the pigs to bed/drinking coffee/watching Corrie and marvelling at GP1 bladder capacity (He peed all over the carrybox on newspaper. Must've been cross- legged while he was being cuddled ) Grin

Bless him. At least he had the decency to wait.
