Carpark piggy is here and Sooty is being a hyper bum sniffing pig!

So I met the nice rescue lady who had 2 piggys with her for me to pick one - a black and ginger and a white and ginger, the lady thought black pig had the nicer demeanour so I have bought her home. She looks a lot bigger than teenager Sooty who is all over the make shift inside run I have had to build as its raining outside. I think the fleece floor is making her doo lally! They were opposite ends in respective igloos and so I have now introduced them - Sooty is squeaking and tuther is squealing - Sooty is obsessed with bum sniffing and being very full on, no teeth chattering but I can see big pig is probably getting a bit fed up with this young thing! They have both shared a bowl of mixed veg and parsley already and are now both in the same tunnel with occasional major tunnel movement and squeaks. I am going to go clean out the pig shed in a moment so I can get them aquainted in there. Apparently they did live together for a short while before we took Sooty. I will add a picture in a while but its hard to appreciate her against my dark fleece run. How I didn't take ginger pig as well is a miracle. This girl is I would reckon 2-3 and has come from a breeder who has give up as no money in it so handed all stock over but was in good condition - she isn't a skitty pig because she has just stood there while I picked her up hence I think she a bit older. They have been in igloo together for a while now with no movement. I cant get over her bulky size - she has just come off pregnancy watch.

Parsley filled welcomes to new pig. It sounds like they are settling in relatively well together. Here's hoping the harmony continues.

Yes all appears relatively calm in the pig house, dd cant get over how big big pig is, we weighed her and she is 1200g, Sooty is a mere 850g. Could do with a hand naming her.

Piccy on profile grin

FernieB Mon 14-Oct-13 17:32:00

Obvious name is Sweep grin.

FernieB Mon 14-Oct-13 17:35:32

Nearly Halloween and she's ginger a bit - how about Pumpkin? Toffee? Treacle? Trixie?

noyouhavehadawee Mon 14-Oct-13 17:36:03

Yeah it crossed our mind but she is a girl so would have to me Sue grin. Do you think she looks like a Judy or a Myrtle?

noyouhavehadawee Mon 14-Oct-13 17:37:00

Quite like Treacle....

guineapiglet Mon 14-Oct-13 17:46:35

Aaeaaw she is a lovely big lass bless her what a lovely glossy coat. At least they are being neighbourly so farand will take abit of time to get settled. Lots of distractions will help and food of course!

Love fernies idea of Sweep as a name[he wasalways my favourite]... Both your names arecute though, and still love Tilly from fortifed's thread..

FernieB Mon 14-Oct-13 20:15:57

Haven't seen the pics yet as am not able to get on laptop at the mo' but will check them out ASAP. Tilly is a good name guineapiglet - almost makes me wish I had a girl fluffy thing instead of boys with their boring non-pretty names wink

I will add it in the mix along with Truffle. I am leaving the naming up to DD, she got upset tonight about Charlie so I need to help the new pig and DD bonding along.

We had a GP called Treacle - he was black. We tend to focus on food names: Fudgey, Biscuit...

Aw she's lovely.
There will be lots of rumbling and bluster while they get aquainted grin

She might not have been handles much if she was a breed pig rather than a pet pig so she might take a while to get to know you all (but she'll recognise the sound of the food being delivered ). That's the way forward - bribery.

I had a black Peruvian pig in my 20s. She was called Marmite.

Tabitha if you want a witches name

("Bewitched" - 60s sitcom)

And a thlgrin for good measure)

FernieB Tue 15-Oct-13 16:44:37

Love Tabitha - that was in contention for Previous Bun.

She is surprisingly happy to handle, today they were both inside on my sofa on a blanket before school and an enormous amount of poo was dropped, I placed a bowl of veg down and Sooty took some veg and big pig just nose dived in - totally comical. Anyway when I went to get them this morning they were cohabitating an igloo awww. So dd did a whole chart of names and methodically discounted various names and then we were down to Truffles and her new name which is........ Peggy! So Peggy big pig is who she is and Sooty hearts her smile

noyouhavehadawee Tue 15-Oct-13 19:21:28

Tabitha is nice btw I do like that but I know a cat called Tabitha .

FernieB Tue 15-Oct-13 21:01:34

Peggy pig is a great name. So glad the 2 of them are happy together.

guineapiglet Wed 16-Oct-13 08:35:38

Like the name!
Hope the peace and tranquility lasts. Both guineas are so lucky to have had the chance of a new home smile

fortifiedwithtea Wed 16-Oct-13 16:21:35

Good choice smile in my head I'm singing Peggy Poo to the tune of Peggy Sue imagining the scene on your sofa grin

FernieB Wed 16-Oct-13 20:21:18

Thanks Fortified, I'm going to be singing that in my head all night confused

fortifiedwithtea Thu 17-Oct-13 00:10:07

You're welcome Fernie grin

noyouhavehadawee Thu 17-Oct-13 20:14:39

ha ha that's basically all I been singing too - they still seem happy so I am - dh has just talked me out of ringing the lady offering to take ginger/ white pig on - he thinks we should wait till spring and then get a bonded pair to make it a quartet shock
