Has anyone got any recommendations for cheap places to buy sawdust?
I am Warwickshire based (Coventry / Rugby).

I buy sawdust for our gerbil from Poundland, 2 packs for £1 [surprise surprise!!]. One pack is enough for our gerbilarium, but would go twice possibly for a hamster. I have also bought a large pack in The Range for £2.99, the same size that is about a fiver in PAH.

I'd go straight online. I buy everything from PetPlanet. Delivery is quick and cheap especially if you bulk buy. They also do lots of deals - like BOGOF etc. Do you have storage for a bulk buy?

A local sawmill will probably be able to sell you some dead cheap.

Thanks. I need quite a lot, enough to cover the floor of a large shed (8ft by 6ft I think).

What's in your 8'x6' shed then HardKnot ??

What about a shredder? I've got a Household Shredder (for everything not guinea-suitable) and a new small cut shredder for the guinea-pigs paper.
Makes a lovely soft bed and gets rid of waste paper (but it does get everywhere Xmas Confused

I get a 25kg bale of shavings from my local horse feed shop for £6.10

Are you sure that you want to use sawdust for your animal (whatever it is?!!). It is not recommended for either rabbits or guineas and we never use it at the rescue - fresh sweet hay is good for bedding or straw. Sawdust and shavings may well cause breathing, skin, feet and eye problems so avoid it for these species but I don't know about others.

And I KNOW that lots of people do use it but that does not make it a good idea!
