Where the Dickens are you going to put your Christmas Tree now that Big Pig and Little Pig have taken over your life (and living room)?

Have they tried on their Christmas hats is a more important question....

My DH got our little advent tree from the loft - (it has little decorations in a cupboard with 24 'boxes' to hang on the tree)
The guineas Santa hats were neatly tucked inside Grin
DD must have done it last year.

Bonkey could buy her boars some tinsel to make tiny tutus for them (my GP1 wouldn't entertain that. He's very Bah Humbug )

My girls have to go back outside for some of tomorrow :(

We have people for dinner and because we haven't got the indoor cage yet they are just in the massive run in the kitchen... Means no room for cooking a roast!

Will bring them back in tomorrow night... Worried about them getting cold though :(

Oh oh oh a thread title with me name.in it! Grin

To answer your question , I have no bloody idea!!!

I have another week of thinking before i have to attempt it. (Ds has his birthday next weekend, tree goes up after that) .

Im wondering if guinea apartments will work.....
Given that one of them is a c&c im doubtful!

And i can't find the bloody Santa hat!

Bonkey obviously I've missed something having not logged on for afew days but I would say a photo of piggies under the tree is a must.

The first year OB came to live inside he thought is was real Xmas Grin. It's artifcial, we had to stop him nibbling it and he sat under it all Christmas but we couldn't find the camera Xmas Sad. Last year he was abit more clued up and didn't spend so more time there. We had to encourage him with a bed of hay to get the photo [Fblush]. No idea what will happen this year. Don't trust Shy (Naughty)Girl not to chew the bloody lights.

fortified My issue is.....that because we bought the pigs in April/May then they quite happily settled into the big space under the window, next to the sofa, behind the table.

However, since then they have fallen out, had a split playpen, and recently got a whole cage each. Suits them better, but BigPigs c&c is in my tree spot! I have no where else for it to go, the tree or the cage, so I have a dilemma.

The only thing I can think of is putting them (temporarily) on top of one another like guinea apartments. Good in theory but not sure either cage will take the other on top and the bottom one will be very dark- no? Confused

The possible other way is to put one pig on the table. Buuuuuttttt.....the table is my workspace - its covered in beads and various other jewellery making bits of crap , while thats all being packed away from 14th....I rather like my table with its festive-ness at chrsitmas. (Think bowls with sweets and nuts Grin).

My living room is a decent size but its just not bloody big enough! Angry

Love that OB sits under the tree Grin Does he free range all the time? What about wee? I don't mind the poo, its the bloody cloudy puddles my two leave when they are out that annoy me- even more so when they walk through it Hmm

Not sure it would suit my two. BigPig is to shy lazy and LittlePig is a monster. If there is something he could do to piss me off he would do it!
I imagine he would be very dog like though, sits at your feet, squeak to get on the sofa, look at you with lovely big innocent eyes when you find chew marks in the chairs.....Grin

Bonkey Now I see your problem Xmas Sad. If it were me I would go for for the highrise option. An alternative could be many little fake 1ft trees put on any window ledge, shelf mantlepiece maybe. But the you don't get the must have pig shot Xmas Hmm.

Yes OB does free range everywhere. Surprisingly the wee isn't such an issue an it use to be. There was a time when I was forever moping up after him. He also had a curious habit of peeing in front of the washing machine and pooping under the radiator. Since the girl pigs have been indoors he has lost his white goods fetish attraction Xmas Confused. But he poop at will, he is vair old. Counting down the days to his 6th birthday.

fortified The Bonkey house MUST have our reliable 5ft tree out every year! I will dangle it from the ceiling if I must! Grin

I may need to buy some extra cable ties and give BigPig a roof, then Little pig should (in theory) be ok on top. BigPig will like the fact that he is in the dark because no eagles can see him when he goes for food Hmm . Just getting them in and out may be a issue....

Gah!

Aww, 6!! :)

BigPigs 1st birthday is in Jan! LittlePig is 1 at the beginning of april. My babies are growing up :( LittlePig is the same size as BigPig now apart from the chunk , can't believe how teeny he was when we got him .

I've got some major juggling to do to ensure we have a tree too

My 3rd bedroom (boxroom) is really small- fine for a toddler bed but I'd struggle to fit a single + wardrobe in there.
So DD has bedroom 2 (DH and I in room 1). DS sleeps in the front room.
At Christmas (usually 23/24/25/26) he has a inflateable in DD room. The rest of the time he has his sofa bed as a sofa (or his inflatable in the front room)

Last year the guineas were in the back room (We've got a family room/dining room/kitchen in an "L" shape) they had to be away from the radiator but we kept tripping over (and the little swine would play Supergrass when I had a sneaky bag of crisps)

Tonight they will be in the boxroom in the cage (fleece, boxes, hay biscuits and food).

DS thought he'd have the floor of the boxroom but looks like he'll have to doss with DD again Grin

Then my tree has it's place in the front room (and peace reigns) Wink

It's amazing how the time flies.
Just don't think how many poo cages that you've had to change in a year.

(I do a hay/straw/newspaper change every day -occasionally 2 days but that's rare).
We do a proper clean on a Saturday- DD says "Is this our life"
Yes -it is.

Operation Guinea Flats are in progress!

I'm in the mood to do it now so, I am going to make the space and see if it works before the tree goes up next week!

What's a-miss Bonkey ?
Is it the weight of the cage not supported by the bottom cage? (I've had no experience of C&C cages)

Or are the boys not happy being in a high rise rather than side-by-side?

I have sussed it now!

For now I have swapped them - BigPig in his C&C on the side board just and LittlePig in his cage on the floor.

When the tree goes up then I can lift the cage easily ish on top of BigPig and that leaves me my tree space.

In the daytime LittlePig may have to go on the floor or under the tree or on the table so BigPig can have some light.

BigPig looks rather smug to be the one up high again Hmm

Actually, I'm a little concerned about LittlePig.

He's been quiet all day and now he's not eating his veg, he was hiding under his hay in the kitchen too, normally he is doing laps or pushing the divide around....

And I just accidently left his cage open and he is still in there! Considering he's now on the floor thats not great...

Hope Little Pig is okay!

I was going to suggest one of those skinny pop up trees. We got one last year - takes no space.

Well he's eating his redi-grass and pellets so he can't be that ill.

Shall keep a close eye!
