Start with a really decent bra that gives you uplift and a waist. Have you been to Bravissimo? Imo good money spent on a few bras makes a big difference to how you carry am outfit off.

What size clothes do you wear?
What skin and hair colouring are you?

Sturdy underwear (Spanx, magic pants, control tights etc) A very good bra, then you can wear long sleeves to hide your arms if you wish.

Kimono style dresses are quite flattering. A deep V neck make your boobs look fab.

TBH, if you don't have a great deal of money to spend, and find you like the clothes you have but not how they fit, your best bet really is to get a good bra (the Fantasie ones suit me the best, i am an F cup but the bra makes them look really perky - which they aint!) and i also love the John Lewis firm control tights. They are high waisted and hold everything in without restricting breathing, are quite high sheen so make your legs look slimmer..

Hope this helps at all

Bless you. You sound very down. And quite a lot like me, shape-wise!

What do you like about your body? Big boobs are a good thing - v-necked long sleeved jersey t-shirts are good. I buy them from Gap, as I think they last and are good quality.

I bought a really nice knee length denim skirt from White Stuff recently. It wasn't ultra-cheap but I've worn it every day since I bought it (note to self, must wash it).

Knee length boots are good - don't be put off by worries about "chunky calves", I've found it fairly easy to get ones that fit.

Jewellery is a good way of making a boring outfit more appealing. And cheap - I have a lot of necklaces from places like Accessorize and M&S.

Make sure the clothes you do buy fit. Nothing worse than too-small clothes.

Dresses are good - I quite often wear dresses. They cover a lot of lumps and bumps.

LOL You could be describing me! I don't have one problem area, every area is a problem area!

Definitely very good start is a good bra. I look so much better now I've found that out. As for the rest...hmmmm...'tis difficult.

I favour the layered look myself (with tight layers against skin so they don't add bulk). Bootleg trousers help balance out the rugby playing calves. Depressingly although I love them, don't think skirts suit me.

I'll be watching this thread with interest.

Snickersnack, I'm same shape as OP I love dresses but find it hard to find day dresses. Can you link to any

Yes, layers are very very good.

Note to self - must invest in better bras.

Ooooh me too. I am always jealous of threads where people don't know what to do about their fat arse. I'm thinking "well at least the rest of you is passable!"

My pearls of wisdom are sparse but tried and tested: v-necks, wide-leg trousers, empire lines and never, ever wear shoes with straps at the ankles. Oh, and always a heel, however low.

Most of my dresses are a bit old now. So not sure if there will be links, but I did buy a couple in Monsoon last autumn.

OK - not crazy about the colours, but this ticks the style boxes (kimono sleeves, empire line, v-neck)

I have one very similar to this but from Phase 8 a few years ago. Need some control pants underneath but it's pretty flattering.

I do actually own this but unfortunately I bought it in a slightly too big size so it isn't particularly ideal. But a good style, I think.

I also own this. It looks really really nice on, and I wear it with a crochet cardigan thing on the top. I don't know why it works so well, but it's one of those things I always feel really great in when I put it on, and I get a lot of compliments.

Am conscious I know look as if I'm addicted to Monsoon, which I really am not but I do think they do decent dresses for people of a less-than-svelte shape and size.

OP this sounds like me!! Shall keep an eye on this thread. I never know whether to go for a more fitted look and risk showing my wobbly tummy or or more loose style and risk looking massive. Being 5.3 doesn't do me any favors either!

Thanks for all your replies ladies!
To be honest I never wear a dress unless going out somewhere special and I know v necks are good for highlighting your boobs but I don't really want people looking at them?
the proplem with layers for me is that I am always too hot so fat, chunky and sweaty isn't a look I go for if you see what I mean.
I am size 18-20 and I think the bigger size is to accomodate my boobs or I'm kidding myself and am fat all over!
I have pale skin, blue eyes and auburn hair(which is about my only redeeming feature). I am a mum of 2 under 5 and live in jeans, trainers and any top that's clean!
I await your replies!

The idea of a v neck/scoop neck is not necessarily to show off your boobs, but it does make them look smaller iyswim as it kind of cuts them in half. Some v neck/scoop neck long sleeve cotton tops would be a good step forward.

Polo necks/high neck tops make you look like you are made of boob if you have anything bigger than a c cup. I will try to find links to some decent bras and tops, see what you think. I will go for the less pricey ranges too (i am in the same boat!)

If you wear some chunky, bright, unusual jewellery too, people won't notice you have spilled yoghurt on your jeans or haven't brushed your hair

something like this but it is the sort of thing you can get in primark, claires etc on sale

you sound like me!!! i'm trying to reinvent/update/gee myself up abit at the moment too.(Fed up of jeans and timberlands) I too am not very happy with most of my parts.... and my lovely size 10 and 12 friends suggested knee boots (biker boots), leggings and tunic/dress (casual)with long line cardigan, scarf nad lots of bangles. I didnt believe it and felt like fat cinderella being dressed up by my glam friends.....but I was shocked to see it worked and am very pleased with the results. ha! me in leggings...who'd have thought it?

I lived in leggings the last time round, but when I tried some recently (thinking, leggings, tunic, boots) I discovered that in between the thighs and calves I've now got fat knees

I fear I'm doomed to bootlegs with short boots forever now.

You look exactly like me OP (same size) - I wear knee high boots from duo www.duoboots.co.uk and a v-neck jersey dress with 3 quarter sleeves (shows off the thin wrists). Plenty in Monsoon/Sainsburys. Nice waterfall cardigan.

Jersey skims, v-neck shows off the boobs.

Also good underwear - no thongs, proper spanx/spanx imposters. Decent bra that hoiks your boobs up and seperates them.

Good accessories - I wear plenty of nice jewellery, nice bag.
