What's the oldest garment you still wear?

Sparked by a friend saying her dress was "pre-kids" - her oldest is 9!

I said I had nothing still going that was that old vintage.

Thinking about it I can offer a Laura Ashley belt which must be 10 yrs old, and a Racing Green scarf which I wear daily (in winter) - lovely red cashmere. It must be old as Racing Green no longer exists AFAIK - so let's say about 10 yrs too (I bought from there a lot before DS1 was born).

Otherwise my stuff always wears out/looks tatty/gets marks on it or ripped/doesn't fit or just looks out of date (hasten to add none of thse were true of my friend's dress!). I clear out anything I've not wron for 6mo.

What's your oldest garment still worn regularly?

Probably a cotton towelling dressing gown which I have had for about 20 years. It's a lovely jade green colour, and I've never found another I like better. Although I wear it a fair amount it isn't really looking tatty. Apart from that I don't have many things older than 10 years old (ds is 9).

I do have a couple of cardigans (one of those is Racing Green, I also used to buy a lot there pre ds - where do you shop now instad of RG?) and a dress or two, but that's all.

I am wearing a Marc Jacobs t-shirt today, which is about 7 years old. Still in good shape!

Wow that was a quick thread creation! I have a butler and wilson choker that my mum bought in the 60's. so much nicer than the stuff they do now

Ahh Boden has tried to take over where RG left off but I am not sure it has of late.

Otherwise it's good old M&S which is pants really.

I am starting to think I don't buy a lot of clothes. Mine fit into one large drawer and a hanging space of about 80cm. Maybe I need to get out there and spend!

A coat that I bought just before I got pregnant with DS. That was almost 4 years ago. It's a small coat but has seen me all the way through 2 pregnancies!
Everything else is newer, before I had DS I was a very tiny size 6/8. DS is 3 and DD is 8 weeks old now and im a not so tiny size 12! Its shame, I miss some of my old clothes!

Impressed with a 7yo T-shirt! You see Ts I bought last year are now out of shape or have mysterious marks on (I am a bit sloppy and can no longer blame the DC )

Like the sound of yr 60s necklace undecided!

I have a very nice ex-railway person's jacket that a friend found in a skip over 20 years ago. And my dead aunt's dress that must be at least 30 years old.

Probably a funky long 60s dress that I bought second-hand about 12 years ago - it's older though because I think someone made it themselves probably in the actual 60s.

But it only comes out for parties etc. Everyday wear, nothing really more than a few years old, mainly because high street clothes wear out. My jeans always go through at the knees, my jumpers always bobble to bits eventually. If I had anything super-designer-posh I'd hope to keep it longer.

An M&S thermal t-shirt that must be 10 or 11 years old. I wear it all the time under things in winter. It is the perfect shape and fit and so warm. Sadly they haven't made them since or I'd have bought several more.

Not sure I've got anything else from my pre-dc days (4 years plus).

Mostly costume jewellery that I hang on to for sentimental reasons - most are still good enough to wear in an ironic vintage kind of way.

Also two scarves that my dad got me from Dubai in the early nineties, so that would make them 10-12 years old

Clothes-wise, I think the oldest thing is a black dress that I bought circa 2002 for a posh dinner and which I could still technically fit into (barely) but I haven't really gone anywhere posh since that one time. It hangs in my wardrobe waiting for the elusive occasion

I've got a couple of coats that are around 8 years old and still going strong - one black with chunky white buttons (v mod like) and the other a lovely soft green with victorian styled neck.

Am currently pg and in that bloody awful too big for normal clothes too small for proper maternity so I've dug out my fat clothes which I've kept bundled up in the attic from the early nineties.

Most of it is shockingly current.

Other than that a marks and sparks thermal vest which must be 20 yrs old and a few pairs of combats from 1988.

I ditched some white levi 501s last year that I had bought when I was 14yo, 22 years previously! They didn't have any marks on, miraculously, but they looked dated, funnily enough and a bit shapeless, so went when we moved house. I've got a topshop necklace from the same era that I wore until it broke last week .

I have a lovely sparkly black/gold cardi that belonged to my nan, we think it was bought around the 1940's. My mum had it for a while then it was passed to me, and it still looks fab!

I had a heart attack the first time I needed to wash it though, I was convinced it was going to fall apart or something. It was fine, of course.

I have a ribbed brown vest from Topshop that goes really well underneath things - must be about 5 years old (impressive for a vest, I thought!)

Umm...got a little leather jacket from Gap I wear sometimes that is about 8 years old.

Apart from the vintage selection of my wardrobe which consists of lots of beautiful stuff from the 1920s through to 1970s(love it all, wear it so often, one of my wardrobe trademarks)...I still have and wear a reasonable amount of stuff from when I was 16 onwards (when I got into buying good quality clothes from decent designers). It doesn't all get worn all the time - it gets packed away into storage as items move in and out of date, but I'm currently sporting a Whistles pink tweed fitted suit from c1986, and last weekend I wore a beautiful John Galliano evening dress from the early 90s (I think, bit hazy on the date, but its definitely pre-marriage).

I have Laura Ashley pajamas that are about 10 or 11 years old. They are my favorite pair and have been sewn up more times than I can remember
If we're talking actual age, I have a vintage 50s dress that I wear on nights out, as well as a 20s purse and hat

I have a gorgeous cotton top from 1957 (the year before my mum got pg with eldest sister). It is white, button through, sleeveless with a boatneck and gorgeous lace insert around the neckline.

Other than that, I have several other vintage items which could be from the same era - am a sucker for a 50's dress But most of my things in the wardrobe are relatively new-ish except for my classic, "grown up" clothes (Max Mara, Cacharel) and my evening dresses.

I have a French Connection T-shirt which I got free when I was about 14 (23 years ago). It was huge on me then and it is still long now, but it's a bit tighter everywhere else. I wear it as a nightshirt on the odd occasion I require nightwear.
