GAHHH! M&S out of stock for cute shorts DD wanted for her birthday...

So, ahem, organised mother that I am went to M&S to get cute shorts for DD to wear at her bithday party.

I didn't notice, in my desperation to be a speedy shopper, that the size on the hanger label was not the actual size of the item.

Last week I went to a local branch, all sold out - no problem I thought, I won't order them I'll just nip back to the huge one at the weekend.

Sold out in DDs size there too.

Normally I wouldn't be so bothered, I'd just tell her to deal with it...BUT she has just changed schools due to bullying (etc) and is desperate to be cool (and popular) at this school - despite constant efforts from me to ensure she realises her self worth, and that being different is ok, all she wants to do is fit in and not present a target to the more dominant members of the class.

We are having a big disco party as we have to invite the whole class, as friendships not really established yet, and they have all been discussing what they are wearing.

Party id Sunday, M&S out of stock online of these shorts or anything remotely similar.

I promised her. Please help me!

No of you ol' bags care...or perhaps you are in bed?

Have ordered 2 pairs from Next - although the 2 styles I liked were out of stock - but the cheeky wotnots it says open an account today by asking for a catalogue and free delivery. I checked the box asking to pay for delivery and not get a catalogue and d'ya know what? They have opened me a credit account with a £300 limit, I wanted to pay with my visa card as I do not use any forms of credit (no particular moral stance, just too disorganised about paying).

Right must go and wrap her pressie for tomorrow and Go To Bed!

Next did the same with me... I usually take the same stand on store credit but it's too tempting this close to Xmas.

Hope it all goes well tomorrow

You absolute loves, an age 13 or 14 I'm sure either would do in these desperate circs - although I think I'm too late to catch you before the shops.

Thanks for the birthday wishes B.

I feel a failure that I haven't sufficiently instilled an apprecialtion of individuality or a thick enough skin to deal with being different for DD and hope she has the confidence soon to not be a sheep.

I think even if they do have confidence they still all like to dress the same. When my dd goes out with her friends they all wear the same clothes! Maybe when they get a bit older they will like to be a bit more individual.

dexter, you are right. I think I am sensitive to it as I was a bit geeky different at school and not at all fashionable and this was used as a stick to beat me with.

If there are both is 13 or 14 preferable?
