Short hair (very!)

I've had my hair in a boring bob for yonks and have made appointment for next week to get it cut short. Was thinking of a boy cut, or maybe leave the fringe long. But not sure I can go thru with it.

PS Have NEVER had short hair.

Any advice?????

As a very short hair survivor I'd say don't do it unless you are a wee elfin thing with a very pretty face.

I was neither of those and looked like Robbie Coltrane in Cracker.

What about something like mine (pics on profile)? Not very elfin unfortunately.

Definately more pat butcher than elfin though.

Hair is shaped in the back with longer fringe type thing swept to the side - easy to do with the help of GHD's...

I would love to go v short, but agree it is suited to 21 year 6 stoners with pixie features...

No you really suit it and could go shorter it is all about features and proportion with short hair and you have the perfect face for it.Your wedding pic is stunning

I went from waist-length hair to pixie crop and loved it. I'm def not a pretty elfin type but it looked quite good. I did have to change my style of dress quite radically in order to look funky rather than dowdy and I occasionally had a striking colour put in to jazz it up. I got lots of positive compliments from strangers - all women wanting to know where I had it cut. Interestingly family and friends never really liked it as much as I did. Grown it back out into a longer style now just for a change.

Unless your hair grows extremely slowly and you don't think you'd have a complete meltdown if it wasn't great, I'd say go for it. But make sure you go to a good hairdresser who would be able to reassure you that it would suit your face.

Geordieminx - that's a fab haircut. Not in the least Pat B.

My hair is very straight and blonde. Earlier this year I went from bra strap length to short in one go and haven't regretted it at all - I now have a hair style rather than just hair!

Mine is similar to this, but a bit longer at the front so more down over my eyes

Not too dissimilar to this but without the longer bits over the ears

Go for it, it's only hair, it will grow!

I felt very exposed with short hair. Hairdresser told me i looked liek drew barrymore with the right face shape and features for short hair,,,I felt liek a butch freak for about 5 months. horeendous will never forget it. when I saw people i hadn't seen for a while they said "ooooh haircut". they didn't know what to say. but usuallythey said "it'll grow".

i have a gawgeous friend who really shines as being gawgeous with v short hair. i'm v jealous because i know it would never suit me (perhaps an injudicious comment by a hairdresser about not wanting to make me look "too butch" has been taken too much to heart )

i think you have to be totally honest with yourself about your looks, e.g. how do you look with hair scraped straight back off your face? if okay then a crop could work.

I often wear my hair back in a bun or high ponytail and people say iy suits me but I look hideous with short hair!

Just gone short and a bit sweey and get constant compliments....mostly how young I look (only 28, so wondering how old I looked before )!
