Poll: how many of your wear control underwear/corsets/spanx etc most days?

Just wondering really. Since having DC2 I have taken to wearing spanx everyday as it stops the wobbly bits, well, wobbling. I don't actually like the feeling of not wearing them anymore as I am used to the snug held-in feel.

Is it odd to wear this stuff even on stay at home with the kids days? Or do we all do it?

My aunt thinks its an affront to feminism.

No I don't possess any.

S'pose it would help you not eat too much - wouldn't skinny jeans do the trick in the same way?

Skinny jeans don't hold in the muffin top. Spank come right up past your waist.

In my case they are required underneath the skinny jeans.

I am a size 12 but my tummy has been RUINED by pregnancy.

Daily Mail have been there already i'm afraid! I read that it is not a good idea to wear spanx every day as it means you do not use your abdominal muscles as much and they get weaker leaving you prone to back pain and other problems including prolapse!

It does depend on what I am wearing, but anything that amy reveal the wobbly bits gets the spanx treatmant.

So usually at least 3/4 days a week.

I wear them 7 days a week in some form or other! I have the boy shorts version, butt lifter and ones that come right up and under the bra kind. I have worn them daily for years. I have a drawer full of "glam" kickers but I never wear them. I wear nice bras, but always with reinforced drawers! I suppose I like the illusion of seeming more toned-the clean, bump free silhouette under clothes even if they are incredibly ugly garments.

only control type undies i own are a corset and a retro corselette type affair that i haven't figured out how to wear any knickers with, so, erm, no, most definitely not everyday wear.

I don't even own any!!

I'm a wobbly untoned size 12 but really couldn't bear to spend my days being sucked in.

I can't even think how the hell I'd peel myself out of them each time to use the loo. I go about every hour

Parties only! And I don't have any of the weird ginormous ones that go down your legs and up to just under your bosom. Just a plain old pair of M&S magic knickers. One pair.

StrictlyBoogying · 01/11/2009 18:09

I wear them every day too! I have the M&S ones that end under the bust. I don't like the feeling of normal pants now either!

aren't they total passion killers though?

I quite agree with AF, I'm sure overindulgence in magic pantery will lead to a spate of varicose veins, or slightly over bulging eyeballs in 20 years time.

Anyway if you wear them all the time then it's like wearing your coat indoors. You'll never get the benefit of people going 'ooh don't you look lovely' when you appear at parties looking all hourglass and smooth.

I dont own any but occasionally when Im going out wish I had some. Could not face revealing them to any poor bloke who had the misfortune to go home with me though :D

spugs - I have been known to carry a fancy pair of undies with me and nip to the loo once the lights are low Not good when you're rummaging in your bag for something to wipe DCs face with next day though

Don't wear them everyday, but I do often wear control top tights.

There's probably something in the theory about overuse weakening core muscles - walking around feeling like you need to hold everything in definitely helps tone the tum.

Agree with AF and Riven.

I cannot imagine wearing those hideous undergarments every day. I do wear mahoosive pants if I want a smooth shape beneath my clothing but they are M&S no VLP things rather than "suck your belly fat in and give you IBS" pants.

I don't own any.
I understand that some really are lovely and comfy to wear, even daily (presumably you pay a lot more for that).
The only place I'd be tempted to wear some would be the swimming pool, and I assume it'd be pretty obvious if I tried??
