I don't like either really. The cashmere one looks nothing special and the DKNY one looks a bit odd.

Both lovely - second one probably but really like the first too.

BTW, you get a better idea of the DKNY one if you look at the pink version - you can see where it ends and the dress begins.

DKNY without doubt, although I am sure you can find same much cheaper (says she who likes 'nice' clothes

DKNY but remmber they're £99 at bicester

I really like the first one. I saw the DKNY one at Bicester a couple of weeks ago and I thought it was very short at the back and wasn't that keen on it. They only had black and grey at Bicester.

DKNY cozy is the better of two IMO. Might make you look a bit shapeless though. the first one is a bit dull-middle-aged-ish

Someone linked to one that you might like on a thread the other day , I'll see if I can find it...

NorktasticNinja · 30/10/2009 19:22

In my mind it was black

Still, you might like it anyway..

Okay ... am going to think aloud here so please bear with me and then offer your advice.

I want/ need a light, long black cardi
I have so much knitwear, most of which is going on ebay in the next week or so, partly because I never/ rarely wear it and partly because I am moving home to Australia next year so this is officially my last UK winter.

Hanging on to Isabella Oliver cosy (light grey) Zara cashmere/ silk boyfriend cardi (charcoal)

think will sell Whistles cashmere cardi (vivid pink) Farhi chunky cardi (brown) Jigsaw chunky cardi (black) ... for starters....

Find that I am always looking for an elegant, lightweight-yet-warm black cardigan ... the Zara ones this year are too short but I fear the DKNY might be too short at the back and might irritate me with its flappiness. Yet I can see that it's versatile and will be lightweight enough to still be useful in Australia.

going in circles here ... what do you think? and please don't mention the shopping ban, this is a wardrobe staple situation, not for fun!!! and ebay offsetting cost etc etc

The first one, pnly if you wear slacks

Prefer the DKNY as it's more versatile

Still swimming against MN opinion and think the first one. The flappiness of the DKNY would annoy me too!

MustNotEatCake · 30/10/2009 21:44

also open to any other suggestions re: long black cardigans!!

remember - must be lightweight!!

something like this?

Well, I have 3 cozys and it was only when people started talking about them here that I remembered I had them

I've been making an effort to wear them recently, but really I only wear them wrapped around ballerina style, I don't really like them loose they are as you say, flappy. They are waist length at the back, so no bum hiding possibilities.

I'm not crazy about the first one though, it's a bit too long, but them you are tall, so may work on you.

I am of you moving back to Australia. We spent 9months in Sydney when ds1 and ds2 were little, it was the time of our lives, such a fantastic place for children to grow up. And for me, well I used to walk past Belinda in Double Bay, on my way for bread and milk at Wollies

OMG!! I'm a Double Bay local. How funny. My flatmate used to work at Belinda.

saw a coat for you today - pink. belted, cashmere, Versace.

£2200. Is that too much??

Really! I loved Double Bay, lived on William Street, there was a little beach just behind us with pelicans... the boys loved it, used to put dinner in the oven and run round to the beach for half an hour of sandcastles.

Will never forget the day we went to the library, and noticed that a lot of people werre walking through the garden behind it, and going through a little gate. We decided to explore and discovered Rockleaf Pool......wowee.

We would still be there now but dh was homesick [resentful emoticon]

Thanks for that reference to Versace, makes mine seem a vertiable bargain I am planning a dawn raid into town before the halloween parties begin, so I shall be trick or treating in a raspberry pink, wool/cashmere, A line beauty.

DKNY, I think that the long cashmere would be permanently covered in sticky fingerprints/ snot. At least it would be in this house

Report
MustNotEatCake · 31/10/2009 09:54

what about this

looks longer at back than DKNY for bum coverage, but not so long & flappy at front.
