...dyed mine today (ghastly greyage) and where it was gingery and strawlike this morning is now glossy and brown.

Have been tossing my mane all day

MaggieBruja Sun 25-Oct-09 19:10:21

oh will you come round to my house and do my roots ??

I did a fantabulous job on my hair about 8 weeks ago.. Very caramel. NOW....... I have caramel with mouse. I am scared to tackle the roots.

Have you done your own roots before?? Any tips?

CybilAviationAuthority Sun 25-Oct-09 19:11:38

I have done roots with a root kit...with mixed results. This was an all over job, applied to roots first then spread through.

L'Oreal 10 minute jobs are brilliant too. I'd toss if I had any hair.

CybilAviationAuthority Sun 25-Oct-09 19:13:27

Oh coco I tried that stuff and hated it! that's what made my hair like Arthur Scargills in the first place.

<tosses mane>

<stands by with hot wax>

MaggieBruja Sun 25-Oct-09 19:15:06

oooh you wax your head??? you're hard!

CybilAviationAuthority Sun 25-Oct-09 19:15:24

My dd told me she preferred my hair 'ginger'

MaggieBruja Sun 25-Oct-09 19:16:33

I like ginger! ginger is what I'm after. Anything is better than lost in a crowd of one Mouse coloured hair.

cocolepew Sun 25-Oct-09 19:17:31

My hair's well 'ard. It can take anything I throw at it.
I've dyed it 3 times in the last 10 days including bleach.

<<cracks knuckles>>

Ginger is good if its glossy ginger. Mine was dull dull dull with grey roots. Not a good look

<swings head round>

CybilAviationAuthority Sun 25-Oct-09 19:18:04

what colour are you coco?

cocolepew Sun 25-Oct-09 19:19:15

SimonHowl Sun 25-Oct-09 19:19:40

are you a haughty mare now then

MyCatsAScarierBastardThanYours Sun 25-Oct-09 19:19:57

Does it last? I tried the 10 minute one and it was brilliant - great coverage and was as quick as it said, but 3 weeks later I'm seeing quite a lot of grey again. Nice N Easy lasted about 8 weeks.

CybilAviationAuthority Sun 25-Oct-09 19:24:46

lol coco. Yes Simon I am hurrumphing through my nostrils as we speak

And on a sensible note Mycats I HOPE it will last longer than that 10 minute rubbish

cocolepew Sun 25-Oct-09 19:24:55

8 weeks? shock from a dye? Didn't your hair grow at all?

My hair is grey dark brown. Being a lady of a certain age I've gone with the lighter look. I dyed it too dark, put bleached highlights in, dyed it with a lighter bpown and have lovely low lights now.

I missed my calling, I should own a salon by now.

CybilAviationAuthority Sun 25-Oct-09 19:25:55

you did all that yourself?

Ahh, but you do spend a LOT of time in Boots, don't you, are you wandering aimlessly up and down the hair colorant aisle

CybilAviationAuthority Sun 25-Oct-09 19:26:28

yes medium brown but on my ginger straw its come out darker

cocolepew Sun 25-Oct-09 19:27:16

Yes I'm a dye expert <preens> and I cut it myself too.

MyCatsAScarierBastardThanYours Sun 25-Oct-09 19:27:26

It does grow (honest), but I don't have masses of grey, just at the temples a bit so it didn't show so much.

CybilAviationAuthority Sun 25-Oct-09 19:28:04

shame you are so far away you could come and give me a trim

hormonstersnomore Sun 25-Oct-09 19:28:51

Aargh, I had mine coloured at a salon for years. Now I can't afford it, thought I'd use Nice n easy or summat and now my hair's almost jet black. Not a good look for an old dear! How do I get it lighter again without having light roots as they're very grey?

cocolepew Sun 25-Oct-09 19:28:58

I have shortish hair and when visiting my brother a few years ago I forgot to dye it before I went. So I touched up my roots with mascara.

It rained.
