Why the Boden obsession? Convince me please.

I have seen the catalogue and it's nice stuff but soooo expensive. It's not that cutting edge either really.
I guess it's ok for timeless classics but why buy from Boden when places like Uniqlo are so much cheaper and more trendy aswell as selling the timeless classics.
The kids stuff is quite cute esp the applique tee shirts and slouchy cords but again- very expensive considering they last for a year max.
It just seems that it is a uniform for yummy mummies.

I don't hate it I just think it has become a bit of a cliche. If you wear Boden then you are a good mum kind of thing.

Why Boden then?

I don't hate yummy mummies either as it's something I aspire to!

I just but the kids clothes because they wear really well and I like the bright colours and applique. BUT I only buy them in the sale. That way they are reasonably priced.

I did notice however that the quality was not as consistent this sale and I sent quite a few things back.

I just buy

I might have a look in the sales then. Love the tee shirts and they are not too saccharine

Blardy hell, there is a daily thread on the Boden obsession. Could you not just read 1 of the other 2321 threads on the topic?

Anyway, to summarise:

They sell online and have a good returns policy. That makes shopping easy.

Johnnie is bloody insistent and once he gets your address he'll bombard you with catalogues until you give in and order a Henley tunic.

No one pays full price for the clothes because there are always discount code floating around that make the clothes affordable. Strongly suspect that this is Boden's marketing strategy.

I contacted them about the catalogue bombardment and they stopped - I know what you mean!

huh? why do you want to be convinced? hell of a lot cheaper to remain sceptical.

i think we should have a boden disclaimer at the top, something like they have in health. or at the very least an faq.

I just read one of the other numerous Boden threads.
I have to say I prefer Joules but its still a bit jolly hocky sticks.
I like Warehouse, Oasis, River Island .
Mabe Boden avoids the mutton dressed as lamb phenominum.
If I had the money and the figure I would shop in All saints, Reiss, Hobbs etc.

I guess most people shop here and there. I do dig the Boden kids stuff and might buy dd some 2-3 years as at least it will last a whole year and then I can get a good price for them on ebay.

well I've missed all the other threads! I too have been wondering what the obsession is....I'd never heard of it before coming on here

The clothes are well made and generally fit me really well. They mix and match in well with other stuff from everywhere else. Most of it is timeless, so more of an an investment than a fad buy. I use primark for fad buys! Warehouse is my other favourite shop, though after a good summer i am not enthused by their current autumn collection so have bought lots of boden instead.

Buy yourself a boden heartwarming henely jumper (if they come back into stock) and then you will understand. I have to slap my hand away from mine most mornings. I cannot wear them everyday!

I don't get it myself, but I think if I spend too much time here then I might grow to accept the idea of Boden and then find myself sliding down the slippery slope to ordering.

God knows, I despised Ugg boots and reading all the threads on here convinced me that I really need those cosy sheepskin monstrosities. Perhaps I'm easily influenced. It'll be bloody Toast next.

Not a lot Chatter, they were out of stock in the things i wanted.

It was like being in a Boden shop, i loved it.

I dragged took 3 friends along too that are new to Boden and managed to bag myself £25 credit as long as they bought something!

DD did well today, they had her size.

Lovely Boden clad lady running the thing.

As we approached people started speeding up to the front door

It was hysterical.

I was looking for Waitrose nibbles but sadly none appeared

Sounds good! The website is pretty much out of stock in just about everything at the mo too. I am spent up though so is for the best i reckon! Does not bode too well for the sale though, will be pretty empty!

I cant touch velvet I know, i know very odd.

It's like terracotta for some, or nails down a blackboard.

I had a dress once with velvet around the bust, I walked with my arms out most of the evening

chattermouse · 23/10/2009 22:33

That is MENTAL!! But then maybe you are eccentric enough to wear the hand printed cardigan It is gorgeous in the brown spot and not a shread of velvet in sight! It looks tres smart.
