it's not one of those photo makeovers is it that you end up spending £300 on photos?

Sorry to sound sceptical but I agree with TraceyK - beware you don't have to fork out for the photos. I got caught out this way. The make-ver was free but got charged a fortune for 6 pics

cost me £250 for 4 photos (10 years ago) - really hard pressure selling afterwards - not for the fainthearted.

I do hope its not like that
Sat here worrying now.
Oh well, guess I just gotta wait and see what happens.

yes but it'll be a 6'x4' photo - they took me into a dark room with soft music and projected the photos (bout 100 of them) onto the wall and tell you how faaaaantastic and beeeutiful you look in every one of them and how you would be so sorry not to buy some keepsakes of them! They were very hard sell.

there was a company that does this on watch dog recently were they said the hard sell was almost crimimal due to the pressure they put on customers... hate to be cynical but I bet you will find most of the people who entered the survery amazingly won as well... it is a bit similar to the venture concept.... get you in the door for free, take some good photos and then put pressure on...

My SIL did one recently in manchester and the photos are quite cliched - very soft focus and awful, thick plastered make up... my advice would be to check it out before you go!!

Someone at work just had one done - £25 quid for the day inclusive of one photo, an 8x10, I think.

Although she only accepted the one pic, she had her DH take loads of pics of her as soon as she got home. We were gobsmacked at how different she looked from her usual self when we saw the photos.

Enjoy the day, be aware you might get the hard sell and don't take your credit card

BTW, she went with her niece and sister iirc and her niece was not partic impressed with the results but always looks good anyway, iyswim, whereas my friend isn't really one for glamming up, doing her hair properly, etc.

take warning from posters here burstingbug! my friend ended up spending £££'s at one of these but if you know what you plan to but.. or not to buy in advance just stick to your guns and dont be pressured. As suew says you can always get someone to take pics of you all made up.

Have a lovely time and treat it as a girly time with your SIL, maybe even go for a meal or something afterwards. will be nice to have someone pampering you.

I'll take a set amount of cash and leave cards etc at home. Maybe £30.
I can't afford to buy much anyway what with DS eating up all my cash even though he's only 4 months.

I won one of these too but i never went for the reasons people are saying, i think they say to lots of people they have won just to get you there and then you end up spending loads on the pics ripoff if you ask me!

Report
Willow2 · 19/06/2005 20:26

They cannot make you take the make-up off - just walk out!

I wanted to take the make up off after mine anyway. It was totally caked on, they dried my hair how they wanted to so looked nothing like the 'real' me then it was all posed photos.
Then you have teh hard hard sell as others have said. I resisted but they got really short with me after that.
The whole day was not as relaxed and enjoyable as they had claimed - it was just a production line.
Sorry to deflate you but I really wouldn't bother going.
We have just had one of the surveys round here too my friend filled it in and surprise surprise she has won too!
