Style and beauty

help! I need to sort out my work wardrobe

Ok, so, I work in the civil service, and its important for me to look smart but not too 'bossy'. But - there is always the possibility of getting pulled into a meeting with someone scarily important.

My conclusion, after watching my colleagues, is that simple black dresses are the way to go. I have lots of accessories to brighten them up.

So - please can you help me find 5 simple knee length black dresses. Ideally in wool or jersey.

I am 5'4", size 16, decent legs, large of chest (always the risk that i look like a barmaid) and ass.

I also need a mac in beige or equivalent please.

Budget - around £50 per dress (i'm thinking of these as an investment for work) but could be a bit more if they are perfect. Not at all fussed if they are similar. I genuinely want to get up, throw on a great dress and head out the door.

Would be really, really glad of some help please.

Five black dresses and a beige mac?

Won't you get bored?

I would go for black, grey and maybe stripes or something? Or you will die of boredom. Or worse, your colleagues will think you wear the same clothes day in, day out.

This

or this

might work

(nb am not advocating you buy your entire wardrobe from M&S, they are just quite good at basic working dresses.

Hi - thank you. But I'm certain I wont get bored. I have a plethora of bags and shoes and so forth. And mornings are so stressful, just having a simple dress will be great.

so... anyone...

I like the 2nd one that Spicemonster posted.

I'm sorry but I agree with the others that 5 black dresses is likely to get your colleagues thinking you wear the same thing every day (and I am the queen of black clothes!).

I've not seen any of these irl but:
