A lot of "traditional" wedding dresses have corset style backs so they can be tighter on the waist/looser on the boobs. They're often also boned so can be really flattering/supportive. My friend is a similar shape and looked fantastic on hers. Her dress was this sort of shape

1. Avoid the temptation of a strapless dress at all costs (although this seems to be the default wedding dress style), v.difficult to pull off successfully with huge knockers and just makes the large-busted wearer look fat

2. Great underwear is essential - could the budget be stretched for a rigby & peller bra (or similar)? Any old-fashioned underwear fitter will be able to match a suitable bra to the dress (ie buy the dress first - BUT NOT STRAPLESS!!)

3. BUY dress to fit knockers and get it adjusted. If the shop won't do it find a seamstress in the yellow pages who will. This also results in a practically made-to measure result too!

4. Check out eveningwear ranges (debenhams/house of fraser/john lewis/coast) for something one step away from "wedding dress". If she's willing to consider vaguely traditional (doesn't have to be a meringue) then wedding dress shop sample sales are excellent value for money - again a seamstress will be needed to adjust but the shop usually recommends one. Wedding dress shops also have separate top and skirt combos (although usually quite traditional) which could solve the sizing issue.

HTH smile and congratulations, wedding planning is such a happy time!

Why doesn't she have one made?

I was a size 12 with 32G when I got married. I had a very simple dress made in burnt orange silk. Traditional style, but not traditional colour. I look crap in white/cream.

I also had a little jacket made so I could wear a bra underneath. The dress had detachable straps too depending on how drunk brave I was on the day.

How about 1950s style?

The waist on this can be cinched in, her figure will look fabulous and it's a mere £85:

Slightly specialist taste and probably wouldn't go with the YSL trouser-suit, but I'm a busty wench and got married in the Red Taffeta and ivory velvet dress at www.roxx-online.com (added piccie to my public profile). Suited me great and they do have ones which are all white/cream/ivory if that's what you like.

I've found the medieval style is generally pretty flattering (also other similar companies on ebay)

R&P have excellent reputation, but very expensive. Try Bravissimo. They specialise in curvaceousness, and also do some clothes designed specifically for large-busted-slim-waisted figures. Very good fitting service.

I went for evening dress from department store- my mum took me to the wedding dept first -where I would never have gone- to get ideas and it was worth it as they had lots of different shapes and seperate pieces as well - though long deadlines-
so we worked out shape/style and also colour I was possibly thinking cream/ivory but white worked better - although ended up in Red smile mine was corset type top with v slight sleeve but gave enough support with 2 lots of extra sticky tapes (34ff) underneath..although it was a bit of a worry and i wasn't going to be dancing madly ..

Bravissimo great - then look on ebay there are lots of v good lingerie sellers at a lot less if you know which brand/size - make sure you pick one that does returns though... hth
