Chic but not trying to hard dress needed STAT

Just invited to a brunch event this Sunday where I will be (sort of) in the spot light, so I need a good outfit/dress. A celebrity will be there! I have no time to shop so help me!

Might go for this Jigsaw number, although it may be too booby. I'm 5'2", size 12-14 and a bit bumpy. I have spanx though so can probably sort out lumps.

Suggestions?

I tried that on today - was flattering, and not too norky. this, although almost identical, was better though - less clingy around the tummy. this from kew looks a bit plain here, but was also fab on.

Oh that is lovely. I like the aubergine colour of the Kew one too.

Zara do v similar to those for just 19 squid . You would probably need a large though, as they tend to cling a bit (am same size as you).

I imagine that the Jigsaw one is much nicer quality though.

I have the one op linked to in black, its very flattering, but is quite boobular. small camisole beneath is more demure

Yeah, had considered I might need a cami with it. Will that dress take me into winter, though? Could I get away with a very thin long-sleeved top underneath or is that going to be too bulky?

I do like the look of the Kew one (and the longer sleeves), but it appears it might be slightly empire line. I would have to try it to make sure it won't make me look pregnant.

As an aside, I have these fab aubergine boots. Could I somehow make them work with any of these dresses or should I stick with my go-to black round toe heels? I'm not great with adventurous colour combos and generally end up looking too matchy matchy.

I wear mine with a longsleeved t under, and or a cardi on top, with or without tights.

I think the first one would look ok with high narrow fitting boots, but better with shoes. oh and some bold jewellery

I entered a competition and I'm one of three finalists. The winner will be announced at the event. Not sure I want to out the event just yet but sleb is R!cki L@ke. I find it most amusing!

Yes and yes to all your accessories suggestions. Still working on getting the hang of effortless layering. But I WILL one day, or die trying.

I have that first Jigsaw dress and I often get complimented on it. Hangs very well - but needs a top under it unless you are very booby and don't mind showing it off!

Is OK with flat shoes for summer, or boots and long sleeved thin top underneath for winter. That is my plan, anyway.

I'm sure you've all been hitting refresh to see what I bought.

The Jigsaw dress was out of stock (only two left in the entire company) so I tried the other lycel jersey ones. They just weren't great on me.

Tried this at LK Bennett and it was actually quite flattering, but more than I wanted to spend.

So I tried one of my local shops which has started to do some consignment things and it happened to have a DVF wrap dress for £60. So, I bought it!

Pretty happy with it as I've always wanted one, but never wanted to spend the money. So, out come the spanx!
