Six weeks to 10 years younger bootcamp 2009 - week 1 (again)

winnie09 · 08/09/2009 18:59

This is week ONE (again) of the new boot camp of 2009. Everyone is welcome.

The rules:

This is about feeling better about yourself...not necessarily a diet per se etc etc

  • Sunscreen at all times
  • No or little booze. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

Really quick one tonight as I NEED to be in bed by 10.30pm - said 11pm last night and it was 00.20am This is NOT GOOD bootcamping!

So today:

  • Sunscreen - tick
  • No or little booze - tick
  • Walking - remembered Moron and have done 8,000 steps (nearly 7km) so not bad and didn't do as much as I could have done
  • Water - better
  • Body cream - tick
  • Hand cream - tick
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos - hope so!!
  • Eat healthily - less snacking today, tried to have a drink each time I wanted something sweet
  • Be happy - tick. Hot, sunny day here which I love. Happy children so happy Mummy

Bed now!

Ok, have already broken the bedtime rule but was watching Running In Heels.....so kind of essential viewing as beauty/style related

  • Sunscreen at all times - not today
  • No or little booze. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it - tick
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can - legs, bums & tums 45 minute class......will that do?
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day - drank a fair bit but prob not 2 litres
  • Apply body cream as often as possible - tick
  • Use hand cream - tick
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos - oops!
  • Eat healthily - the day started well but I am a terrible snacker in the evening: if its in the fridge/house it gets eaten any tips greatly received
  • Be happy - tick. Sunshine always makes me happy.

Hi feetheart & tulpe! Just us then

feetheart, well done on the walking. The Moron really does make a difference to ones motivation I think
Tulpe, the only way to stop snacking on things you shouldn't is not to have it in the house in my experience

  • Sunscreen - x (forgot! & today was sunny!)
  • No or little booze - tick (no intention of opening bottle tonight as I am out tomorrow evening)
  • Walking - remembered Moron BUT have only done 2856 steps Not good ... however have done 45 minutes in the swimming pool constant breaststroke
  • Water - ok
  • Body cream - tick
  • Hand cream - tick
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30 is the plan
  • Eat healthily - tick
  • Be happy - tick.

Winne & Feetheart: we are a small but perfectly formed group

Winnie - my problem with snacking is that I don't necessarily snack on junk - its always things like cheese & crackers, the occasional digestive/home made flapjacks. As these are all reasonable foods to have at home I don't feel I can deprive DCs and DH along with me!

Seriously though, last night as I reached for the Appenzeller (seriously strong cheese is my total weakness) I realised that it is just a bad habit rather than hunger which drives me kitchen-ward in the evenings. I am trying to eat later this eve and hope that will make a difference.

  • Sunscreen - SPF25 in my tinted moisturiser. Wore long-sleeve cardi so little in the way of exposed skin.
  • No or little booze - None. despite meeting good friend for lunch
  • Walking - But I feel that I can be absolved since was in gym Monday & Tues
  • Water - ok
  • Body cream - tick
  • Hand cream - tick
  • Go to bed early am definitely hitting the sack at 10.30pm. The early morning rush with school run is getting to me!
  • Eat healthily - tick
  • Be happy - tick.

Tulpe, I know what you mean about not wanting to deprive others in the house & cheese is definitely a weakness of mine too.

I have to confess I have just had an after dinner coffee (I love strong black coffee ~ it is my drug of choice ) with a piece of willies cacao (which is sublime)...

Small but perfectly formed - I like it

Tulpe - I'm a snacker too though more of an afternoon one rather than early evening if that makes any difference at all! What really shocked me out of it for a while, and has made me think a bit more before reaching for something, was joining Food Focus and logging my intake for a few weeks. It scared the bejesus out of me! Its quite a pain, especially if you make a lot of things from scratch as we do, and you can get a weeny bit obsessional about it (or maybe that was just me!) but it made me look at portion sizes AND just how much I was scoffing unnecessarily! I only did it for about 3-4 weeks but felt I learnt a lot.

Today:

  • Sunscreen - tick
  • No or little booze - tick
  • Walking - no run as DH had to leave at 6am for a course but managed 6000 steps
  • Water - ok
  • Body cream - tick
  • Hand cream - tick
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos - by 11pm last night, closer to 12 tonight
  • Eat healthily - not bad
  • Be happy - yes for lots of reasons but here are a few:

  1. More sunshine
  2. Made tropical fruit jam with frozen 'Tropical fruit smoothie mix' that has been in freezer since it was on offer AGES ago and DC decided they didn't like it after I had bought 3 bags!
  3. DH and I sat down this evening and did filing for the new business for first time (he has set up on his own doing IT support for small businesses and I am going to be doing all the 'office stuff')

Now I am going to bed!

4 stone is fantastic Winnie - I told you you were an inspiration

Today:

  • Sunscreen - tick
  • No or little booze - tick
  • Walking - about 7,000 steps
  • Water - ok in morning, rubbish later on
  • Body cream - tick
  • Hand cream - tick
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos - I might make it tonight!
  • Eat healthily - not brilliant, bit of a chocolate fix this morning and had cereal instead of a proper meal tonight as DH is out
  • Be happy - yes. Went to check out flat after tenants left and see what work I need to do before new ones move in at 2pm tomorrow and its not much - bit of a hoover and a wipe round then try and put 3 desks together! Never had students before but have 3 Chinese jet engineers moving in!

  • Water - not great
  • Body cream - tick
  • Hand cream - tick
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm it's already gone

forgot to fill this in yesterday. Was busy pampering myself and going to bed early

Winnie - congratulations on your weight loss. How fab is that? Best of luck with the rest of it but sounds like you have the will power to succeed

Feetheart - thanks for that link. Am going to investigate when DCs are in bed later.

So. Yesterday:

  • Sunscreen - tick
  • No or little booze - tick
  • Walking - not great. Was aching so much from my gym class on Tuesday so I didn't feel up to much. Have started parking much further from school now though and "every little helps"!!
  • Water - good
  • Body cream - tick
  • Hand cream - tick
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm - tick
  • Eat healthily - hmm. succumbed to temptation with some crisps - damn M&S!!
  • Be happy - Despite suffering from severe muscle ache, yes!

Today

  • Sunscreen - tick
  • No or little booze - tick. I shall be indulging in a small glass of something after DCs bedtime as DH is working late and I think I deserve a small treat.
  • Walking - Much better today. Don't have one of those pedometer things but perhaps I should get one? I went for a 30 minute bike ride this afternoon - full of slow-burn hills which are a killer but good for the thighs Kept bike in a high gear so I was working harder.
  • Water - tick
  • Body cream - tick
  • Hand cream - tick
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm - will try but probably later
  • Eat healthily - tick: have lots of healthy things to snack on to accompany my small glass of wine: hummous, peppers etc so will not indulge in a cheese fest!

Hi feetheart & tulpe,

tulpe, I wm impressed by your exercise committment. I need to be upping my exercise: I must go for a long walk at least this weekend as well as my usual swim.

Yesterday wasn't great. I was training all day which included a buffet lunch (I was very restrained) but then I bought olives & antipasta on the way home and ate too much whilst hungry and picking whilst cooking dinner . Still, my tip for anyone who has spent a lifetime yoyo dieting don't let one "bad" day ruin the whole thing. Today is a new day

  • Sunscreen - tick
  • No or little booze - 1 x bottle of sol beer
  • Walking - rubbish
  • Water - rubbish
  • Body cream - tick
  • Hand cream - tick
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm - tick
  • Eat healthily - ok (ish)
  • Be happy - I think I am having a bit of a post birthday dip
