Ugg boots - to buy or not to buy??

I used to hate Ugg boots but I tried a pair last winter and they were so comfy and I have to admit I thought they looked quite funky?

What's people's opinion?? A lot of money and not sure if they are out of fashion?

Do they sell out quickly? Will DH have to put in an order soon before there is a national shortage?

BTW, I read that you shouldn't wear socks with them.......is that true??

No socks needed and they come up big.

My DH bought me some Chocolate brown Uggs for xmas 2 years ago and I still wear them all the time, they are well worth the money and they are sooo comfortable (especially during pregnancy, I wore mine constantly).

You can get an Ugg Protector spray which offers some protection from the rain but obviously they are suede so don't wear them out if it's torrential!

I'm in W of Scot and mines are never off and we def get torrential rains!

Bought the schuh protector spray and have had no issues thus far.

On my third purchase this season.. not to worry - who needs heating?

I love the Cardis (I have a pair in grey) but not keen on other Uggs.
They don't seem to be going out of fashion any time soon and they are extraordinarily comfy.

I love mine, I have (whispers) 3 pairs , but in my defense I have been stockpiling since I was 14, and you really couldn't tell which pair are 5 years old and which pair I bough a month ago! And I wear mine everyday! Recently convinced my mum (42) to buy some and she is converted!
I obviously don't know what size your feet are but if you are a size 5 or smaller then office have kids shorties for £100, about £50 cheaper than an identical adult pair in the same size!

I got mine (genuine Uggs) from a US website for about £60. My local department store sells them for £160.

I got my first pair last year. I too used to think they were hideous, they do look like baked potatoes after all. However, they are so comfy it is unbelievable.

I wouldn't spend so much on what are essentially slippers.

Though perhaps if I had such costly slippers I would feel compelled to wear them constantly.

If it brings you joy, go for it.

The thing that puts me off them, is that even the real Uggs seem to make people go over on the heels, so they are walking inwards on them iyswim.

Warning... if you buy some boots from the USA, when the delivery man comes to the door he may well demand tax before he hands over the booty

BF bought me some cowboy boots online for my bday and I had to cough up an extra £25 to Fedex which killed the romantic gesture slightly.

Fimbo - I wonder if that's because those people are flat footed?

I have been on constant Ugg Watch for about a month now and have seen people walking inwards on them but far more walking regularly in them (altho suppose they could be newer......haven't actually spoken to the Ugg wearers!! Am not THAT sad......). I also notice that the ones who walk inwards tend to be "foot shufflers" iyswim - people who are so cool that they tend to shuffle rather than walk, whilst flicking their hair and pulling the sleeves of their tops down even further in order to look nonchalantly cool.....allegedly!

My feeling is that if you have regular footfall patterns then they will be fine.

The other thing is that they aren't the most "supportive" of footwear so if you do have a tendency to roll your ankles inwards these are probably not a good choice. Unless you use those orthopaedic arch supports?
