thumbwitch Thu 03-Sep-09 13:28:56

no no no! not AoGG, more Aussie school uniform! And agree 100% - utterly hideous.

Hassled Thu 03-Sep-09 13:29:20

I'm offended. Truly. I was wearing that only last night.

tulpe Thu 03-Sep-09 13:29:51

this one is my personal favourite wink

Alibabaandthe40nappies Thu 03-Sep-09 13:31:24

They are foul - and so expensive! shock

EleanoraBuntingCupcake Thu 03-Sep-09 13:32:11

i think you have to prove that you have v. long frizzy greying hair and fringe to buy those dresses

MissAnnesley Thu 03-Sep-09 13:32:27

Ah yes, I can see it with opaque grey tights and Mary Janes.

And plaits.

EleanoraBuntingCupcake Thu 03-Sep-09 13:32:33

i know the expense is the most offensive bit

nancy75 Thu 03-Sep-09 13:32:54

CarrieDababi Thu 03-Sep-09 13:32:59

anyone remember home and away

<you know we belong together>

tulpe Thu 03-Sep-09 13:34:06

looks to me like a local shop for local people........

EleanoraBuntingCupcake Thu 03-Sep-09 13:34:33

they sell cabbages adn roses in jigsaw this stuff is even more bizarre in the flesh.

HeadFairy Thu 03-Sep-09 13:35:09

There's a woman near us who wears things like that... she has a four seater pushchair which looks like a wheel barrow and she wheels her (at least) 8 children around in it (they're all aged about 5 and upwards), they've all got really Victorian names like Cicely and have their hair in ringlets, and she (the mother) wears a big long pinny over her dresses. I think she's stuck in a timewarp!

EleanoraBuntingCupcake Thu 03-Sep-09 13:35:09

sort of thing a mormon wife no.1 would run up for wife no.2 out of spite.

thumbwitch Thu 03-Sep-09 13:37:41

I see your ugliest dress and raise you this one instead (same site)

I particularly enjoyed the irony of this statement on their webpage:
"All our woven garments are hand made in small quantities in the UK. We have phased production to enable our factory to cope with huge demand."
Not quite sure they're going to get as much demand as they'd hoped...grin

Blackduck Thu 03-Sep-09 13:38:06

They are for ADULTS! shock

HeadFairy Thu 03-Sep-09 13:39:48

See thumbwitch, I can see that one looking quite funky on a young thing, wearing killer boots, black tights, peroxide bob and big shades.... the others are just hid!

Paolosgirl Thu 03-Sep-09 13:40:25

LOL at HeadFairy and Eleanora grin grin

Mamazon Thu 03-Sep-09 13:40:56

i really quite like the last two items linked.

thumbwitch Thu 03-Sep-09 13:41:40

NOoooo! It's too minging even for yoof to carry it off (imo)
but then am old gimmer with no clue these days (or ever, if I'm honest)

Curiousmama Thu 03-Sep-09 13:43:04

Cabbages and roses must be for surrendered wives surely?

HeadFairy Thu 03-Sep-09 13:44:49

I'm sure it's the sort of thing I see the youngsters wearing around Hoxton square these days (or where ever the trendy folk hang out!) thumbwitch... maybe there's ever so subtle differences an oldie like me just wouldn't spot, ie not coming from Cabbages and Roses!

ShowOfHands Thu 03-Sep-09 13:47:14

Oh you miserable fecks.

I quite like some of them. Big pair of funky boots, chunky jewellery, my fetching purple hair. I think I could carry it off.

pagwatch Thu 03-Sep-09 13:47:32

Me, me me !
I have one of those dresses!
It is blue check but does not have a collar or a large safety pin. It is a great big smock thing. It is cool and it covers my gnormous arse and I wear it at home when I am slumoching.
It was not anything like that much money though - it was in the sale (of course)

I do not have pigtails. I look a bit like laura Ingles who grew and and moved to the town to become an unenthusiatic hooker. I always want to smoke and knock back gin when I wear it ( which is possibly another reason why I love it)

I shall wear it more now. I never knew I was freaking my postman out sop much til I read the comments on here. I am usually a Day birger and Christian Louboutin girl but every one is allowed an off day
