effective natural substitute for shampoos?

trying to live more healthily and I would like to stop using shampoo on dd. She has a combination of dandruff and hair that gets oily fairly quickly. I couldn't get the dandruff to clear up with anti-dandruff shampoo after using it for a year. Have given up on it a bit.

Would like generally to use something other than chemically based bought shampoo. Can anyone recommend anything? I don't mean specifically for dandruff but just a general substitute for shampoo.

It depends what you mean by a 'substitute' for shampoo, but Lush do some great natural shampoo bars such as this or this. They are obviously still shampoo products, so I don't know if that's quite what you had in mind. Were you thinking of stopping washing it altogether? How old is DD?

oh thank you that sounds good, also with the rosemary against dandruff.

No, I do want to keep washing her hair with something of course. Her hair obviously needs to be cleaned but I want to avoid putting a lot of chemicals on her head every week if I can.

Have to have a look at the ingredients in those bars, not too sure what they all are really but something like that sounds like what I am looking for.

I was wondering if you can make a kind of shampoo yourself from scratch even with no chemical additives at all.

I think the bar that smells strongly of tar might be too much for dd though sounds effective, might have a go with the squeaky green, that sounds good. Thanks for those links.

Shigella thanks, IÄ'm just looking up organic shampoos not on that site, seem to be masses of them!

Thinking about this one, don't know why it needs wheat and sugar in it, but ok:

lavera

That sounds quite good, doesn't it? I'll also order a Lush bar then, they do sound good. I'd never heard of those before. Thanks everyone!
