anyone else had a reaction to sunscreen or moisturiser?

Continuous coverage of little greasy bumps on face and neck, corresponding to where hair follicles would be. Not just a few hair follicles, but all of them. It feels like permanent goosebumps. They turned up last week and have been there ever since. I have lots of freckles so it's not that noticeable, but anyone looking at me in the right light would think I'd had a replacement with snakeskin...

It corresponds with me starting to use suncream several times a day - Piz Buin and Boots Soltan. The only difference from previous times I've used sunscreen every day, is that I'm also using Boots Time Delay SPF15 day moisturizer.

I've now stopped using all of them, but am getting sunburnt... does anyone recognise this? how do i make it go away and stop it coming back?

DD reacts to some sunscreens including Soltan and Nivea. Think it can be quite common.

She is fine with the once a day P20 though.

I have had that (very sensitive skin). At the moment I use La Roche-Posay Anthelios suncare range which I don't react to. The boots etc. ones are very heavily scented (which is the thing that sets me off). Maybe it's an overload of products? Could you maybe try and find a moisturiser with the sunscreen in it already?

I have the same thing with sun lotions. Nivea "invisible" stuff is much better. I also found that using a gentle body scrub each day after use helped to clear pores.

Poor DS gets this and eczema rash with just about every product on the market. After 9 years of trying to find something which doesn't cause a reaction, we now just buy the regular kids creams and try and get through it as best we can.

It might be nothing to do with sunscreens but could be photo senstivity to the UV rays. (like prickly heat but different) I get that in hot and humd weather until my skin acclimatises.

Not much you can do except keep out of the sun, but keep on applying sun creams- I use Clinique that are allergy tested.

thanks for the suggestions. I agree about heavily scented stuff - might have to get into the fiendishly expensive Clinique territory. The Boots moisturiser has (feeble) sunscreen in it, and was ok on its own...

On the one hand, a newly developed UV photosensitivity appearing in mid-30s seems unlikely given that I grew up somewhere with a lot more sunshine and UV than here; but on the other hand, hey ho who knows anything about the course of autoimmunity in any given individual? (bloody hope it isn't though! )

It does seem more likely that the sunscreens themselves are the problem. Many companies change the ingredients year after year, making it very difficult to keep track of what will be okay for DS's skin this time around . Means lots of expensive mistakes.
