I got drenched today! NICE raincoat needed.

I have a boring-as-buggery berghaus number that is not only not very flattering but also only looks good with appropriate footwear (I.E walking boots) and I am getting bored of that look.

So today i thougt No! I want to wear a nice jacket and nice shoes! I will just get a bit wet as the rain was only light but no, got totally drenched.

So, here I am needing your help mnetters. Yes, raincoat (or coat with nice hat!) that is max £100. I have looked at Boden but the prints just seem so loud, other than the black one. Is there any alternative?

I know the Boden coats are very controversial on Mumsnet but I bought a LOUD PATTERNED one (the one with green, blue and white in the pattern) and slightly to my surprise I love it. It really lifts my day when I am out in it.

Oh and despite murmurs about its 'showerproof' qualities I have worn it in loads of downpours and it has not yet let in a DROP of rain.

btw the sodding things have now been slashed in the Boden sale so now would be a good time to get one.

this one from Lands End is half price and is waterproof. There's also a shorter 'parka' version. There are a few others too in the sale section worth having a look at.

Some great suggestions there thanks, but they are all very mack-like. What I mean is that I have macs already and still end up feeling totally unstylish. And one with a hood seems pointless.

I have come around more to the Boden rain hat line of thinking, and then wearing this with any old/jacket/trench I already have. Was thinking it may look quite funky but was 1) wondering what would happen to my hair - would I get het head? and 2) having a small head, is there anything I can attach to the inside of the brim of the hat to make ot more snug-fitting?

Any thoughts on this?

so you don't want a waterproof coat then?

macs are not waterproof ime unless they are exceptionally good quality ones

just buy a hat or an umbrella then

get the hat and go from there - if it doesn't fit send it back

they don't normally cause too bad hat hair, not like wooly hats

The thing is ggirl is I already have a waterproof coat, but it is a high performance berghaus number and I am getting bored of that look. So just wanted to see if there were any stylish alternatives and - although there are some, i think none seem to be better functionality-wise than what I have now, and style-wise non better than what I have that are non-waterproof.

So that is where the idea of the hat came from. I will be pushing the buggy so umbrella is totally not going to work, but hat leaves my hands free.
