The simple answer is yes.

All taught and blonde, and all the women have perfect skin. Not that I'm - much

Yes to the OP. Mine definitely is .

I just spent the weekend in Amsterdam for BIL's wedding and can confirm that its not just those on holiday nor ex-pats that fit the stereotype either

I think its easy to spot a Dutch bloke - obviously taller, bronzer, usually with a bit of a floppy haircut wearing pointy brogues/deck shoes and almost always with a plain white t shirt under polo shirt or shirt! (I've just described DH (Dutch) but I've managed to wean him off pointy brogues!

codinbatterindailymail · 18/08/2009 16:22

LOL. My old flatmate worked in Amsterdam for a while and he reckoned they were a race of giants.

Report
tulpe · 18/08/2009 16:22

HeadFairy - I think you are right about the women too. I reckon its because they wear very little make up. They have a very natural look with skin unclogged by heavy foundation etc.

tulpe · 18/08/2009 16:24

LOL at OllieWollieWoo You've definitely nailed down the dutch look there......DH is identical - minus the pointy brogues - he prefers english style brogues

OllieWollieWoo · 18/08/2009 16:25

And they keep fit with all that cycling! DS had a swimming lesson yesterday - all the Dads there were hyper ventilating over gorgeous blonde teacher (Duthch) with not an onze of fat on her!!!

(Wonder if this thread will make the Daily Mail???)

Does your DH wear a sailing type jacket too tulpe???? Mine arrived home with a bright yellow one and didnt expect to keep it just for sailing! And don't get me started on him wearing orange clothing at any opportunity......

Report
HeadFairy · 18/08/2009 16:32

I think they're just really healthy aren't they? They have a very good attitude (generally) to drinking and smoking, emotionally they're very healthy too, family is still very important, they're open with their emotions, talk about sex education and drugs etc so their children aren't totally wild. Does that make for a boring nation though? I'd swap excitement for a healthy glow and low crime rate

Report
tulpe · 18/08/2009 16:32

Thankfully, no to the sailing jacket. But sadly yes to the orange clothing! The only time this works in my favour is when we are skiing and I am trying to locate him on the piste.........his orange ski boots shine out loud & proud

Neither of the DS's are allowed an England shirt but both had orange babygros to wear during a variety of football tournaments during their baby years and now, of course, Netherlands football shirts.

Bizarrely, the only time he would consider wearing orange as a naff activity is on Queens Day......because everyone else is

timmette · 18/08/2009 16:36

Yes they are my dh is and he is Dutch.

tulpe · 18/08/2009 16:38

ITA with HeadFairy. And no, I don't think it makes for a boring nation. Just one without a binge-drinking reputation

Danish, Dutch and often German usually look good.

Except for the one I house-shared with who was fat, had red cheeks and a propensity for eating raw bacon out of a bag.

Is it the Danish or the Dutch that like eating raw bacon?

Or was it a one off..

I feel it's wrong to comment on the attractiveness of ones own father but all the other Dutch men i know are very attractive yes... and generally freakishly tall with great tans and floppy hair and quite cheerful... dunno why they seem more cheerful, must be the language i think, it sounds cheerful for some reason!
