I have just sent DP to the barbers to get DS's hair cut, armed with a detailed written description of how I'd like his hair!

I'm really worried! DP is looking after the DCs today and its the only time we can fit in a haircut. My hairdresser, who I normally take him to, is closed today (and doesn't really get my description of how I'd like his hair anyway) so DP suggested trying his barber.

I just found this thread where the OP describes exactly what I want so I have copied that description and given it to DP, and he looked at me with a bemused expression.

DS is only just 3 and doesn't like having his hair cut so going to the hairdressers is always traumatic anyway. DP has never done it before so it could either go much better or horribly wrong! And its OAP day at his barbers so they'll probably have to wait for ages and DS will get bored and start kicking off!

At the barbers where we live, you don't really get much of a choice in how they cut their hair - there is a baby boy cut, little boy cut, and big boy cut - after that they seem to listen more.

TBH, they are so patient and nice, I don't care - DS looks tidy and doesn't kick off about it as he knows he has to sit still to get a lolly from them !

LOL I sent my DH with the same task a few years ago, all I can say is I now take the boys for their hair cuts

I'm sure it will be fine

Right, so that'll be short, back & sides then?

Oh my word - I dread to think. Its so annoying because it had almost grown to the length where it looks nice but just needs a tidy up really to get it out of his eyes. If they cut the layers all short again I won't be happy. Its only me who wants his hair a bit long, DP and my mum keep trying to get him to have a crew cut (nothing against crew cuts but he had is cut really short once before and it didn't suit him at all!)

You might find he likes it better 'going with daddy to the big boy's barber'. Ds was a nightmare - my hairdresser refused to go near him in case he injured him (full-on screaming fit as soon as in chair, with much deadly head-tossing - ds not hairdresser!!). Dh took him at about your ds's age to his old-fashioned 'bloke's' barbers and never looked back. Mind you, it was always a crew cut...

Sadly, now ds is a dreaded teenager, hilariously, he prefers my hairdresser, who cuts it fashionably and long (as oppposed to number 3 allover at dh's preferred salon).

They are back. Hair actually looks really nice, DP was so worried about getting it wrong he gave a very detailed description! I think he'll be taking him from now on - cheaper than my hairdresser too!
