Anyone else have big feet?

I have size 9 feet which are quite narrow, and it is a pig getting anything nice to fit.
Sometimes Next/Clarks are too small and places like Evans just too wide.
I mail order a lot (Tall Girls/After 8) but they are SO expensive- £79 for ballet pumps plus p & p.
I am tall (6 feet) as well, so trousers are a bugger too. Everyone always says "oh you're so lucky being tall "- but it's so hard finding things which fit.

I have size 8 feet, sometimes size 9 depending on the style of shoe. I'm 5' 10 and don't really wear heels, but I don't like super flats either. It's a 'mare trying to find nice feminine mid heels that don't cost the earth. Clarks usually good boots/winter shoes, but less choice in the summer. I wish I was 5'6 and had nice dainty size 5 feet!!

I hear ya! I'm 6ft with size 8's, sometimes 9, and yes its a real pain. It's better in the Uk than in NZ where I'm from though. Over there 34 leg is about as good as it gets.

My SIL's feet are size 13. She does play rugby for England though and has to wear men's shoes.

Try Brantano! I'm 5'11", size 8 feet - because I'm wide of foot! I agree - tis a complete nightmare for us tallies. Things are always more expensive.

I was an 8 as a child, and remember the shame of having to wear boys shoes as there were no girls ones to fit
I think that's why if I see shoes which fit and I like, I get in every colour, as I panic about not having anything to wear.
Found some great jeans in Top shop called Eva- they have now been discontinued in 36 leg.
Pisses me off...
My dd is 12 and size 7.....no money for private education here, it will be going on shoes for her!!!

I'm an 8 but very wide. Apart from Birkenstocks, I generally have to order from "so, you have freakish feet" catalogues. And I don't even get to be tall to offset the feet.

Me too, Riven. And why is it that shops only ever seem to stock one pair of size eight shoes of each style, so invariably, someone will have got to tem before you.
I remember having to wear men's shoes when I was younger (my feet were already an 8 when I was 10 and thank God they then stopped growing) because you just couldn't get women's shoes in an 8.

I'm an 8, but quite wide feet. I like red or dead and el natura lista shoes - red or dead lace ups like these are so comfy, and el natura lista slip ons are wonderful once they are broken in (I just got a new pair, and they are not so lovely at this precise moment).

Good brands that DO have size 9 +

  • Gabor
  • Ara
  • Remonte
  • Romika

Magnus is a (rather dull?) shop in London that specializes in larger sizes. Online also possible. It is surrounded by similar shops that seem to specialize in the transvestite market. Great for heels ; )

I remember trying on shoes in NZ, which only go up to a NZ10 (uk 8) and nothing fitting me. My ex was looking on, and he says " it's like shopping with one of the ugly step sisters"

lol

Riven- yes I have encountered that incredulous "you big footed bitch" look from snotty 18 year old size 5 assistants.....
Gabor shoes are lovely, and I have a pr of their boots which I hope never wear out. Never heard of Ara or Romika- where do you get those inVlanderen? Remonte are stocked by After 8 and I have a nice pr of their sandals.
Magnus IS dull....crap sales staff...and quite wide fitting.
Once bought sexy boots from Elephant Feet (now there's a name you really want on your carrier bag).
There used to be a shop down the Walworth Rd which sold lovely Italian (via spega) size 9s

Glad to see if it's not just me having an irrational menopausal rant! We can't do anything about the size of our feet....

55 pairs of size 9s now at www.shoebuy.com

Google Romika, I tried but only found USA sites in 2 minutes.. worth perservering..

I think they´re both nice good quality brands, worth tracking down.

Had an experience yesterday in Sportsworld yesterday buying trainers for daughter for pe- asked for size 7, they were too small. Asked for size 8- 16 yr old assistant said "blimey, she's got big feet hasn't she!"
Now would he have said "you're a lardy arse" if she was trying on tracksuit bottoms in size 20? I think not.
Bloody discrimination against us!

Somebody posted a link on here once
I've spent hours looking at this site

I try and avoid going anywhere where I have to ask for an 8, as I always feel I get a look from the shop assistant. I'm 5'10" FFS, I'd look strange with feet that were any smaller!!

Next xl are usually long enough for me (i like the 36" leg as well), they now also do a tall range which is too blooming long for me, so im guessing they are about 38 inside leg.
Brantano are great, and also look out for hush puppies and skechers, they're really big made.
Im a size 7 in hush puppies/skechers and either an 8 or 9 (depending on the style) in next.
Look on ebay as well for shoes, but only if you know the brand will fit you, i've ordered size 9's off there before and I swear they were more like a 6!!

Not great quality but New Look do some in size 9 and also Wide Fit.

Yesterday I bought a pair of red 'suede' Mary Janes with heels and a pair of purple 'suede' heeled courts with ruffle on the front.

The red were wide fit, the purple normal fit (either they will stretch a little or they will be taxi-to-table shoes). Both size 8.

If your feet are narrow - try Special Feetures (they have a website with online catalogue).

Lilacclaire- yes I've had to return Next tall trousers as they were too long- what a new experience! And yes, sometimes sizes quoted on ebay are American sizes so an English 9 is an American 11.
I too have shoes in the "taxi to table" category- great phrase!
Sallwag- have just ordered Special Fertures catalogue- they're quite near me and have a sister shop in Kingston.
Glad to see it's not just me who's a Bigfoot!

I'm a size 8 and my bugbear is that shops that seem to think it's the same as size 41 -I'm most definitely a 42.
