please.

My hair used to be very long and very thick.
but its been falling out at a ridiculous rate and its starting to get very thin.

you can see my scalp through my hair now.

I have no idea why.

I was going to cut it short but i've had my hair long for so long that im not sure a short cut will suit my now very round face.

So does anyone know anywhere i can get a decent but not too expensive place to get a nice wig. that way i can shave my head and hiopefully it'll all grow back nice and healthy again

I think you need to consult a GP about it Mamazon. Are you very stressed at the moment becasue that can cause hair to fall out?

Hair doesnt fall out for no reason

Its been falling out for over a year.
my house looks like i have a moulting sheep dog or sonething. my hair is everywhere.

when i wash my hair it falls out not strand at a time but literally clumps.

I don't think i've been particularly stressed.

Our Gp is a bit shite tbh. doubt he'll say anything otehr than change yoru shampoo.

which obviously i have tried.

Ask your hairdresser if you wont ask the docter

Shaving it off doesnt mean it will grow back thicker

Mamazon, ask your GP to refer you to a trichologist (or what ever hair-experts are called)
Shaving it all off seems so drastic!

My hair goes through phases of coming out in clumps - it is doing so at the moment, handfulls whilst washing it etc - but luckily it is not looking thin yet.

Good luck

Can't it be a sign you might be deficient in something

It's worth seeing someone

You should definitely see your GP. And hair loss has nothing to do with shampoo!

Could be your thyroid?

tricologist! cool, I was right!

But definately go and see one! I don't think it has anything to do with having crap hair, nor with whatever shampoo you use.

I think it is either some form of alopecia, or a deficiency in something.

Good luck

hey mamazon anything wtih hair is very upsetting i know. i have two cheering stories:

one friend lost loads of hair and got very fat / lethargic - turned out to be underactive thyroid and she was transformed once treated.

second friend had unexplained hair loss - stopped using harsh hair products and all back to normal now.

I had hair loss and had loads of blood tests etc - was hoping it was thyroid but no! It was a chronic urine infection. Dermatologist sent me to dentist and gynae as hair loss can be a result of an infection anywhere in teh body.

I'd also say prob the thyroid - get it treated, it grows back fast. But shampoo CAN definitely cause hair loss. My mother was advised to stop using Pantene for this very reason, and I know of two other people who say the same thing about pantene (and one of them still has thin hair several years on) - thank God for anonymity, I'd probably get sued otherwise. it's a true story, though!

My SIL had this for years and found it deeply distressing (began in her 20's). She saw top people in London for years and finally found out it was the something in the contraceptive pill that caused her hair loss
