Just bought my first pair (silver, from TK Maxx) and they're comfortable, suit my lifestyle and seem to be wearing well.

I like the fact they don't look cheap and I'd still wear them if they were from a supermarket, it's not the brand but the comfort that appeals.

I LOVE my Birkenstocks, but unfortunately have been unable to wear them much this summer due to heel pain called plantar faciitis. They make my heel hurt even more. am tempted to try Fit Flops, but don't want to waste money in cae they hurt too.

Blame - I had PF (as opposed to PFB!) for a couple of years. Only thing that got rid of it was losing half a stone - not suggesting you need to [panicking emoticon] as I've never seen you!

Pain got so bad one morning I ended up in A&E cos I couldn't walk.

Birkenstocks are still cool imo.

Fitflops are extremely comfortable with a much softer base so should help your heels, blametheparents.

I love them. They are not uber trendy right now but to the devoted (that's gotta be a lot of people} they're timeless. That is true cool grin .

I love my Birkinstocks

I'd have bought a second pair if we'd had more than 3 sunny days

kateecass Fri 31-Jul-09 22:25:11

Love fit flops but love my birkies more. More comfy and better looking IMO

PrincessToadstool Fri 31-Jul-09 22:29:28

I wanted Fitflops until I saw a group of 65+ women discussing them in John Lewis, decided it was a step too far.

2 YEARS! shock
There is no way I can put up with it for 2 years. My BMI is 25 so weight should be ok, tho wouldn't mind losing a few pounds.
I have jsut started taking anti-inflammatories that the doctor has presrcibed. He said to take them for 2 weeks and if they don't work then I would have an injection. Really hope it sorts it out. Have taken a rest from running and netball at the moment too to try and sort it out.

Well, they're not really for the over 50's are they, so yes, I'd say they would probably look a bit naff on someone of your age...what with your baggy knees and varicose veins.

Best get yourself some hush puppies smile
