Can I ask a question about the NEXT sale..?

shhhh · 21/07/2009 19:53

Did anyone else find it full of clothes from seasons ago..?

Yeah sure there were some items in there from the current range BUT the rest of the stuff I had never seen...

AND mores the point, stuff that was on sale in store last week at full price imo was removed for the sale and has since been put back out full price...

What happened to the days when the NEXT sale was items from the current seasons range, clearing space for the next seasons range..?

I can honestly say I shop in NEXT often BUT didn't recognise half the stuff the had on sale...
I'm NOT saying btw that the stuff was crap..(coz I did manage to part with some pennies !)

You are exactly right shhh. They have been doing it for a while now and it's rubbish.

I saw a few nice things that have been in the store this season but most of it was horrendous tat (sorry... I am saying it was crap!) like voluminous tartan blouses, terrible see through itchy woollen dresses and tops with strange arm hole arrangements.

I think a lot of it is stuff from the darkest depths of the Next directory c2004.

well I did think it was crap BUT then realised I bought a few items...so figured that wouldn't look good .

You are right as well in that yes, its been for a few season now like this...

There used to a be a time when you knew that on the fri the stuff on the store would then be in the next sale the next day..ALL OF IT..and then new season stock would slowly filter through.

Guess they think that with the current CC situation we are all desperate..me thinks not.!

I completely agree - although I do think this is only in the stores.

I got loads of sale stuff online that is out of this season's catalogues - spent a small fortune in fact .

However, whenever I go in the stores at sale time I see the same old stuff that I have seen for the last 5 sales (and no exaggerating!!) - and it wasn't nice 3 years ago so it is not nice now!!!

I got jeans as well inzi, black skinny ones and I got a dressy linen type dress which I recall from this seasons stock...

I got for dd linen trousers and shorts which I don't recall from this seasons stock BUT figured for the lo's short are shorts .

ceebee,by the time I looked online (sat 10am) there was zilch there.. IN FACT, Due to that I headed into store BUT said to dh before I left "no idea why im bothering as I know it will be full of crap". Dh's reply, "its like that each time" .

There would have been zilch there because for those who spend too much at Next all year round VIP's, the sale started on Wednesday evening.

I had my slot on Thursday morning and there was a lot there.

I have stopped going into the store tbh as it is just like a jumble sale with crap stuff!

Yep, nothing online when I looked either.

MIL has a theory that different stores get different tat to sell depending on the location - the lower the socio-economic profile of the average shopper the worse the tat.

It was utter crap

I logged on at 8am waited in a queue for 16mins and there was bugger all, unless you wanted to buy a set of 3 chrome balls and some mc hammer pants

FluffyBunnyGoneBad · 21/07/2009 20:28

If you look on the washing label there's normally a date on it, it lets you know what season the items are from.

It is like a jumble sale, I can't believe people queue up from 5am!!

Rolo - your MIL is probably right so I think I must live in a real sh*t hole then judging by the Next sale stuff

Shhh - just looked at your profile and you live in the same area as me so we probably go to the same Next's to see the same tat

I bought:
a King Size duvet set I wanted, with matching cushions
a britax buggy
a Maclaren Quest buggy (half price)
another toy trunk for ds
bunk beds

was a good shop for me this time, I normally end up buying crap for the sake of it (not clothes though, normally homeware stuff and slippers) but this time I actually got stuff I wanted

Our old C&A was turned into a Next 'Seconds' a few years ago.

It was like the worst Next sale you have ever seen... like a bring and buy sale run by disorganised, colour-blind, nylon loving, middle-aged transvetites who didn't like to tidy up much.

sherby · 21/07/2009 20:36

mosschops, did you get the white bunk beds, i wanted them

mosschops30 · 21/07/2009 20:36

am actually ROFL at your post kingrolo
we have a Next factory shop near us and is just as you describe, only your post hit the nail right on the head

Report
mosschops30 · 21/07/2009 20:37

yes, but just to make you hate me more, am not sure I want them now as dh thinks bunk beds a bad idea (despite the fact that we will eventually need some).
You have to buy mattresses so not as good a deal as I originally thought.
I have to let Next know tomorrow if I want them, will I ask if you can have em

lol at kingrolo and "mc hammer pants" .

Ceebee, don't get me started about the VIP bit...I have ranted to next for years now about the allocation of VIP invites. apparently its not done on who spends what BUT is a lottery...BUT imo its unfair. Should be half given random and half as a loyalty basis iykwim. I spend silly money at next and always feel its a bit of a kick in the teeth that I get sloppy seconds .
BTW,I recall someone saying you were local..just remembered . Think you are vvv close..

How do they allocate the VIP online sale? I thought it was just for everyone who gets the directory?

Report
sherby · 21/07/2009 21:29

they don't come with mattresses, you can keep em lol

Yep, same here. We have two stores local to us and they were both packed out with tat from seasons ago. Last summer's sale wasn't as bad - it was almost all current stock - so they have obviously changed policy recently.

Did anyone else notice the "Special Purchase" tags which have "Next quality" written beneath but which aren't actually Next? No idea where these items come from.......are presumably stacks of tat they have bought wholesale on the cheap. They seem to sell a lot of this stuff in their outlet stores too.

Report
shhhh · 21/07/2009 21:46

sazzlelou..nope VIP is not allocated to directory customers BUT is very random.

I have called next various times to say that for years now I have NEVER been allocated a VIP slot and I do spend a fair amount in next store and online..and that my account is maintened well.

I suggested out of the slots they have half is random to anyone with half to genuine, regular customer.

Next said this was unfair . IMO not as unfair as what it is now..imo next don't like loyal customers.!

BUT btw you do need a next account...

therealmrs, I never saw anything like that at my local store...sounds like a marketing ploy from next... So is it not even their stuff..?

I am surprised about the VIP slots - I have had one for every sale for as long as I can remember and surely I can't be that lucky??

Oh yes, don't get me started on the outlet shops - they are just like one permanent sale of tat!!
