Ventured into this newly-opened shop in the West Quay shoppiing centre in Southampton.

It was pitch black. With my rheumy old eyes I could barely see a thing, but kept getting accosted by assistants asking "How're you doing?" One looked rather taken aback when I said a torch would be helpful.

Is it a sort of Jack Wills?

tis ridiculous

I have been in that one at west quay

We walked past it a couple of weeks ago - I thought it was a restaurant from the outside!

HotToastAndButter Sat 18-Jul-09 12:27:02

i did a thread on it
one said to a mate who sniggered at the wasssup

" well you dont need to laugh in my face"

cookielove Sat 18-Jul-09 12:32:31

well i personally love it and have got loads of lovely clothes from there, however you are right, needs better lighting, and less palm trees stuck in the middle of walk ways

HotToastAndButter Sat 18-Jul-09 12:35:18

you are 27

that is why

fircone Sat 18-Jul-09 12:36:14

Why is it so dark?

I was shuffling around with my hands outstretched. I felt as if I were in one of those "I'm a Celebrity get me out of here" challenges where you have to feel your way along a dark tunnel filled with creepy crawlies. Only in this case it was, yes, palm-treed walkways filled with 20-somethings.

HotToastAndButter Sat 18-Jul-09 12:36:59

and the sizing is titchy

cookielove Sat 18-Jul-09 12:38:06

HotToastAndButter Sat 18-Jul-09 12:38:46

noddyholder Sat 18-Jul-09 12:57:23

Mamazon Sat 18-Jul-09 12:57:39

my sister has a load of Hollister clothes.
she's young and trendy and likes looking like she can surf....she can't but don't tell anyone.

im 29 25 and i would need 3 of everthing sewn together

cookielove Sat 18-Jul-09 12:58:43

noddyholder - good luck think they are all very dark, just take a torch

FritesMenthe Sat 18-Jul-09 13:03:46

At school sports day all the lovely young teachers and TAs were head-to-toe in A&K, Hollister and Jack Wills.

foofi Sat 18-Jul-09 13:08:33

It is cheaper abercrombie. V v dark - so you can't see the prices (or sizes?).

Have actually been known to go in there to buy things for dcs and come out with more things for me blush although my things are more tasteful - not the things with Hollister in large letters across the front!

cookielove Sat 18-Jul-09 13:11:05

yeah thanks for that

StillOverHere Sat 18-Jul-09 13:58:02

I live in the US where it is aimed at the same crowd as Abercrombie and is owned by them. My DD and all her friends wear it. She is 12. It always makes me laugh that the girls section is referred to as Bettys. I prefer it to Abercrombie as the clothes are a bit brighter.

HotToastAndButter Sat 18-Jul-09 14:20:47

i love it when teachers go "non uniform"
they all try and uber goovy themselves

FritesMenthe Sat 18-Jul-09 15:57:13

I suspect our teachers are uber-groovy. Or maybe they just appear that way in contrast to the parents grin

missmelly Sat 18-Jul-09 18:09:48

hmmm i have a few bits of clothing from Abercrombie.. and im 34
I like the store too, although I've only been in the NY one.. it's very dark, but filled with young hotties with their shirts off..

Ridiculous shop! I've been in the Southampton one, dark, cramped and claustrophobic. Will be a big hazard too when those rugs come loose. Smells nice though.
