In the case of the pair I am currently wearing, I would say yes. Am putting these in the bin later! Keep glancing at my reflection and thinking 'What was I thinking buying these?'

I think it depends on your shape - the only jeans that fit me properly are Gap L&L (and even that's gone a bit odd since they changed their sizings) and once had a pair of Ralph Lauren Polo (cheap in the US) that fitted well too. But they still tend to wear out quickly (I tend to wear a couple of pairs a lot until they give out and then replace them rather than have lots of pairs on the go...)

If I could wear any old jeans I would.... don't think I could bear to spend ££££ on designer ones.

I have cheapo Primark ones for running around the house and garden but nicer ones for wearing out. Ok the Primark quality isn't great but they are ok for their purpose.

I used to buy Gap, which I thought were fine. Then I started buying seven for all mankind, and they are marvellous. They are slimming, wear well, wash well. As I'm a SAHM I wear jeans a lot, so I justify the expense on the basis that they are my equivalent of 'work' clothes.

So yes, whereas I'd buy countless pairs of jeans for £45, now I buy two or three a year for £150 each. But they look so much better.

I quite like Gap ones and they seem to last, but i'm equally happy with £10 New Look ones as that way I can get more styles for less money and they tend to last ok too.

My favourite ever jeans are from Matalan and cost £14.99. They are amazingly flattering (and my bottom is quite large so this is quite a feat!) and they have lasted ages without even fading (they are indigo). I have actually bought a few pairs just in case. I could never spend £150 on a pair of jeans as I am the sort to drop tomato/oil/blood on them and never be able to get the stain out.

I'm apple shaped and currently between sizes so couldn't find any to fit me in Gap or M&S

New Look ones used to be ok but now they are v thin material

I'm amazed by what people are willing to pay on jeans but then I'm scraping through money wise so they're low on my list of important things.

Got given £30 for my birthday by PIL so I went jeans shopping as my last pair were falling apart (Next) where I sit cross legged and my feet wear holes. Went to Next, went to Next Clearance, went to DP, went to Gap, went to Top Shop and went to Tesco in despair. Bought a pair in Tesco that fitted better than all the others for a whole £6. Felt guilty about child labour but as Mum pointed out, Gap are even worse and so are most of the designers. They're lasting well, haven't faded, have kept their shape and are still comfy but neat enough for nights out.

The most expensive jeans I have bought were diesel ones... I buy from the high street, prefer Topshop, I used to like River Island - but they have gone a bit weird imho... then I bought from New Look, had some really amazing cords from there, but I have tried their latest cheap jeans and they are fine around the house, but I don't really like them, they are really scratchy... though last year I bought a pair of organic denim shorts from New Look which are incredibly soft. I have bought monsoon, which are a bit thin/limited styles for my shortness.

Fat Face too long even in short length, and don't really find them flattering...

I think buying on the high street is hit or miss, if you find a pair you love buy more than one pair, because companies seem to change the style very regularly.

TK Maxx - I'm an odd shape - extreme hourglass - and just try on as many pairs as I need to. I've got a couple of pairs of Seven for All Mankind and love them - £25 a pair - £150 according to the label

Ok, spurred on by this thread I have purchased some 7 for all mankind jeans from Koodos.com at a bargain price. Never even heard of that make before - fingers crossed they fit.

For work I usually shop at Hobbs but when it comes to jeans I don't think you can beat Topshop, particularly if you're a shortie like me. £30 a go and I've got several pairs that fit perfectly and have lasted years.

I love 7 for all mankind jeans, but really find that they are too low rise - does anyone else find this?
I do have a gorgeous pair of high rise 7 for all mankind, but they only do one style in them and the demin is quite think and they wear out.
Have just bought some Armani jeans and they are fantastic - £100 so cheaper than 7's. They are very long in the length though.

I am sitting here in my much loved Tesco £4 sale jeans, dark blue and slouch fit

Upstairs I have my new smaller size Tesco £6 Cherokee jeans...

the most expensive pair I have had for years are my £14 from Matalan.

dh gets dearer ones, but he wears his less and they always fall apart quicker, so go for cheap every time.

I have some cheaper ones that have worked out okay but for every pair I have 2 that I wear for 4 hrs and then they start falling off

I'm a fatty so I really like the M&S £12 ones, they have stayed nice and dark for six months so far.

I love the HULA New Look ones but they fade too quickly for me (I hate waste)

The ones I have now are the best ever - grey skinnies. - £8 from Primark. Very flattering and have lasted about 3 years (and I wear them at least 3 times a week!).

I've three pairs I live in atm. Normal, low rise bootcut from Next, skinnies from H&M, and boyfriend from M&Co kids. The second two pairs came from the charity shop too!

Surely it's about the fit?

All three pairs I have mentioned fit me really well, and I can't see the point in paying more, unless they were the exact same fit but would last ten times as long.
I've never worn out a pair of jeans yet so I doubt it's be worth it.

Last year when DH and I were seperated I bought 3 expensive (for me) pairs of jeans that were really nice. I did however keep an old pair of £10 Matalan ones just for knocking around the house in really

We recently got back together so of course he has no idea how much I spent/where I got the jeans.

A few weeks ago I dragged the Matalan ones out and put them on as I was going to be moving stuff around..........and he immidiately commented on how well those jeans suited me.

I could have wept - nearly £120 I'd spent on the other 3 pairs of jeans (in total) that I'd been wearing and he honestly thinks my £10 matalan ones look best on me
