Are either appropriate for a 40 year old mum of 3?

I think that's precisely their market isn't it?

I'm a 39 year old mum of 2 and have a few bits from both White Stuff and Fat Face

yes adn they are the same place really. so i defy anyone to come on and say one is suitable for a 40 year old mum of 3 and the other isn't

I am 39 and I worry that it is too middle-aged hippy for me !

think whitestuff stuff is odd fitting tbh.

I'm 42 and I live in White Stuff. Virtually.

not so keen on FF, but they're ok.

You won't find many 20 somethings going in there. It is exactly 30s and 40s.

( and personally I find it [bleurr] and [shudder] because of that. Women of my age trying to look surfer cool. [shudder] again)

I am 38, mum of 1 and am wearing FF jeans as I type. I LOVE them. Was wearing FF shorts this mroning, but it went cold.

what is the difference puppymonkey?

Report
pagwatch · 08/07/2009 13:25

or maybe it is just I am too old

the generous sizes are a give away. most surfer chicks are lithe girlchilds, wearing cotton sarongs they picked up 'travelling' they are not generously hipped woman in mock boho pleated skirts.

Both! I think they're both aimed at that sort of age group.

I like White Stuff - FF sizes seem really huge.

Thanks for reassurance.~I was worried they were both a bit surfer ish

Anyone know when their sales will start?

I like the skirts, dresses and tops better in White Stuff. FF are a bit

Btw, I don't surf, I can't even swim. Their stuff looks nice for work and is comfy and not tarty and not boring. That's all!

both are very appropriate, I prefer White Stuff

francagoestohollywood · 08/07/2009 13:29

I'm not that keen on both, tbh.

as a former lithe young boho, sarong-wearing camper van hippy, i have to say FF usually looks a little more boho (though do NOT go and copy all their layering As It Is Seen In The Catalogue. Is a dead give away...

WS is a little more ''quirky, grow-your-own bunting, want to look different but NOT too different'' IYKWIM.

I think FF stuff is very disappointing in the flesh. Go into the shops with high hopes but never buy anything

Report
chevre · 08/07/2009 13:33

yes they give the impression of having nice stuff but then the whole surfboard and fraying rope decor gets to me and i have to leave

I agree fat face is just that bit more hippyish. You can imagine a crusty with a dog on a string wearing fat face style clothes, but less so WS.

I find the occasional thing in WS that I really love and I think the stuf is definitely appropriate - but I'm wary of the WS clone look (as with Boden).

Though one reason I do go into fat face is to swoon over their overpriced camping/picnic whatnottery.

this year's FF is stuff IS dissapointing.
I had some vouchers and vouldn't find anything whih looked nice on.

I was hankering after white, cotonny and cool but everything seemeed very odd kimono style styling, and looked like butcher's apron rather than floaty cute tunicy top I was looking for.

i also think if i want to wear faded clothes i will just go to a charity shop.
