I saw this today and thought it was pretty nice (in turquoise), but am I deluded?

they look far happier not wearing it don't they

I have not even looked at the link so it could be the latest design by Marc Jacobs for all I know, but buyig a coat in a garden centre is def a sign of old age I'm afraid. Never mind, did you buy any lovely slacks at the same time? grin

You are in the nicest possible way deluded smile.

TheRealMrsJohnSimm Thu 18-Jun-09 14:31:40

I'm so sorry. But you are absolutely right.......definitely a sign of middle age........and you are delusional

Fimbo Thu 18-Jun-09 14:33:37

Yikes - no don't do it. Colours are terrible too <<very sorry>>.

TheYearOfTheCat Thu 18-Jun-09 14:43:55

So hat wouldn't be a good buy either?

pagwatch Thu 18-Jun-09 14:53:49

Being in a graden centre is a sign of middle age. Liking one of those jackets and contemplating buying one is a sign of something far more sinister.I am 47 and would not even buy one of those for my mum.

You are suffering from declining style. Find medication, get some self-help books. Seriously do something. Or else just accept it and note that the Country Casuals sale has started.

I did buy a sunhat in the garden centre on Sunday, and found myself looking at the clothes and thinking "hmm, they're not too bad" so I had to leave in a hurry blush!

squeaver Thu 18-Jun-09 14:59:48

Yes

Did you have lunch while you were there? My in-laws are forever going for lunch at a whole variety of different garden centres.

Very odd.

pagwatch Thu 18-Jun-09 15:06:15

grin

Run Bramshott run!

It was also absolutely HEAVING with OAPs having lunch!! I was not tempted wink.

I bought one from a service station last year!!!!!!!!

Fimbo Fri 19-Jun-09 10:37:54

Our local garden centre is heaving on a Sunday with OAPS queuing for their sunday roast.

<<not that I know about such things of course>>

Fimbo, admitting to knowing that you even have a local garden centre is the start of a slippery slope.

Babbity Fri 19-Jun-09 22:09:37

You can buy Joules in my local garden centre - it's not too bad, actually.

Galava Fri 19-Jun-09 23:07:57

No, its not a sign of middle age approaching

its full on old age, what on earth are you thinking ?!

MaggieBeau Fri 19-Jun-09 23:10:06

why don't you buy a coat from landsend like I did once!! they will send you emails for the rest of your life, reminding you what an old goat you were to have bought one of their coats!! blush

MaggieBeau Fri 19-Jun-09 23:11:15

ps, often I check my mails and only landsend have emailed me, so i spose i shouldn't complain! good job i bought that coat.

controlfreakythecontrolfreak Fri 19-Jun-09 23:13:59

only read op..... more like a sign of imminent death i fear...

biffandchip Fri 19-Jun-09 23:39:10

Oh Yes (in the voice of that talking insurance dog off tv) definitely a sign. Stay Away from the garden centre!

iheartdusty Fri 19-Jun-09 23:51:26

haven't they got it in a nice beige?

Katisha Sat 20-Jun-09 00:52:08

Hmmm. And I was a bit worried to find myself thinking that some of the clothes in Milletts were quite nice...

tigerdriver Sat 20-Jun-09 00:56:25

oh dear, this is serious. stay away from garden centres and Stow on the Wold (aka pensioner heaven). and don't read all those ads in the back pages of the weekend papers. Next thing you know you'll accidentally have a stairlift, just in case.
