teenagers/older children's shoes........wear to buy when they wont do clarks?

dd (just 12) since being in secondary school has turned her nose up at clarks. she admittedly does less walking outisde now but presumably more between classrooms.
where to go?
she had bhs in september but at the weekend i agreed with primark, only £4.00..... they wont last will they?
but where else to go in a bog standard high street?

or do i stick my heels in for clarkes which will last ?

I remember going to the ends of the earth for school shoes for dd at that stage.

Barrats do some black flats ,some better than others.

I insist that my 14 and 12 year old dds have proper leather shoes for school. DD2 still gets them from Clarks or Start-rite. DD1 has very long, narrow feet and Clarks shoes don't fit her so she currently has leather adult ballet flats from M&S. here

Primark no use whatsoever imho. They will look dreadful within a week, will not stand up to rain, walking on wet playing field etc and will go all horrid at the back.

It might also be worth looking at Hush Puppies and Kickers.

Look out for Hush Puppies in the sale. I must admit, I refuse to pay more than 35 pounds for school shoes and often pay less. The M&S ones are usually good value. Also if her feet are big enough, occasionally Clarks have quite nice ballet flats in the women's sale.

Next is good too, I take my god daughter every year to get her school shoes and we switch between Next and Kickers.

however she is now in a size 4 so it might be easier than it has been.
