I am thinking of getting this:
www.newlook.co.uk/1654996/165499648/ProductDetails.aspx

to wear on holidays in the evening either with shorts or a pair of black linen trousers. I am 33 and worried about lamb as mutton etc.

So. Yay or Nay?

(P.S if anyone has it is it as long in the body as it looks?)

It's lovely.

I wonder why they never put the length on these websites though.

with linen trews, denim NOT LEGGINGS or shorts, unless long or you have amazing legs. Actually denin/leather would be my choice.
It is not mutton it is the glam/grunge thing, dress it down with denim/leather jkt etc. Otherwise it will look tacky, or cheap.

BTW I am 40 in a few weeks and I would do it

Leather...abroard !?? OMFG !

I also don't think linen trousers would look right. Both too bagy iykiwm. Need something fitted so loose ontop and fitted below.

I think loose linen trousers will look lovely in a hot climate. White OR black.

I will never, either in this life or the next wear white jeans/trousers or leather, I don't have that figure.

I agree with baggy on top therefore fitted below but tbh it's my top that can take fitted clothes not my bottom half!

Thank you for your replies I think I will get it and see what it looks like on!

Libras - ime, if your top half can't take fitted clothes then wearing looser cut trousers only serves to make your bottom half look bigger and out of proportion with top half. I have same prob and resisted close fit on bottom half for years. However, I can now see that wearing fitted (not tight!) on bottom half is far more flattering.

I love that top btw and would wear it with either straight leg white cotton trousers or jeans (ankle length or full length - definitely not mid-calf crops).

The only way I think that would work with looser fit linen trousers would be if they were closer cut on the thigh and hip (ie not wide leg but not bootleg either).

Alternatively, shorts which are a "city cut", finishing mid-thigh, rather than weekend shorts would look fab with it. Try Zara. Check out Gok's pages on the channel 4 website for city-shorts outfits for inspiration

But to answer one of your questions it is quite long so i would wear with leggings or V slim fitting jeans/trousers,

BUT Libras, if you don't have the bottom for tight trousers...by wearing a top such as the one above will allow you to wear something fitted below iykimw...

Top looks longish so can cover I guess bum and tops of legs/thighs...so you can easily get away with a bit more fitted down below.

Try it....get the top and take it to a shop and try with such trousers. You will be amazed. Wear with heels to make you appear more slimmer down below as well...

It's not the butt, I have a nice butt it's the rugby player thighs.

I don't wear heels.

Thank you for all your comments, and you are right shhh I need to try it on.

I don't think that top would go with linen trousers at all - the top is dressy and glitzy, linen trousers are casual and mumsy. Slim fitting black trousers though, definitely.

ok, things can be disguised..

Top looks right length and if white is not ideal colour go with kingrolo's suggestion and black fitted trousers (jeans etc.)

Let us know how you get on x

btw, heels not defo. Will look nice with flipflops that are jewelled and a bit more dressy than "beach flip flops".

I have a very similar top from New Look. The one I have is in the 'tall section' so it is longer in the back. The one I have is a nice dark grey colour, and I wear it both at home and on holiday.

This top was featured in Grazia this week They suggest wearing with denim shorts (mid thigh length). I think it really worked. Was next to photo of Milla Jovovich wearing similar.....
