Just had my skin ripped off during eyebrow wax. WWYD. Pic on profile

I went to get my brows waxed this morning.

It stung a bit, but it always does.

I looked in the mirror and said it was fine. It was red and swollen, but it always is after waxing.

When I got home, it was still stinging so I looked in the mirror to find that my skin has been ripped off. Pic on my profile.

I am torn between going there and making a fuss, but not wanting the lassie to get into trouble.

But then, she's arsed up my eyebrows big time. Just as well I wasn't getting them done for some big occasions.

What do you think I should do? It's just a wee local salon, so if I kick up a stink then I can't ever go back....

i would make a fuss, that looks quite bad, she must have noticed that she'd done it.

Ooooh, that looks painful

I think you have to go back and show them what has happened, otherwise it could happen again and there'll be loads of women in your town with matching injuries.

ouch definitely go back now
that is not good

Ooohh looks painful! I think I'd def go back, I'd demand back whatever you paid for it for a start, and I'd complain loudly. I wouldnt worry about getting girl in trouble, if she's ripping people's skin off their faces they need to know otherwise they're going to have a lot of people coming back and complaining.

nickytwotimes · 03/06/2009 11:00

That's awful!
Poor you.
I'd complain tbh.

Holy cow. You're injured! Go back and complain. She could do the same to other people. You can be diplomatic about it.

Ow ow ow. I had this happen before, was too much of a wuss to go back but needless to say I've since maintained my own eyebrows.

mishymoo · 03/06/2009 11:01

I would definitely say something! That should never have happened! Was the wax too hot or do you think she left it on too long! I have been having my eyebrows waxed for years and that has never happened to me!

Ouchy
Definately go back.
On the bright side, the brows do look good

Oooh that looks sore. I would go back, yes; maybe not to kick up an actual stink, but to point it out. An apology (and perhaps a complimentary manicure or something - not a wax, that's for sure!) might go some way towards making you feel better. What if someone goes there to get their brows done for their wedding or something? The girl sounds like she needs a bit more training, or a kick in the behind to get her to pay more attention.

oh blimey.... get thee back to the salon.
Don't kick up a stink, but ask to see the manager/ess and state your case. You've been injured fgs.

Yikes that looks really painful!

Def you should go back and say look at this, what do you suggest? (At least then they'll see how it's turned out)

Did she maybe allow the wax cool a bit too long before doing the rippy bit?

bagpuss · 03/06/2009 11:04

Ouch yes agree with everyone else, go back and make a fuss!

You must go back and complain. Not to be mean, but so that they don't make the same mistake again.

Just out of interest, were you very warm when you went to get them done? Have you been spending a lot of time in the sun? I only ask because I went for a leg wax after sunbathing once (legs were warm), and the same thing happened to me. It's very sore, you poor thing. Thing is, the beautician can't necessarily tell if your skin is that warm and soft, but they need, really, to check by asking before you proceed.

Well, that seems pretty unanimous. I will go back this afternoon when ds is at nursery.

I have no idea why the wax was so low down on my eye socket tbh. I certainly didn't have any hairs growing where the rip is.

I have no idea if she left wax on too long or whatever, I know nothing about waxing, which is why I get someone else to do it!!

Not particularly warm here today, so don't think that is a factor.

It is really starting to sting like buggery now.

DH will be most unsympathetic, probably saying something along the lines of that's what I get for being so vain.

Get some cooling gel on it, or failing that a little icepack

amidaiwish · 03/06/2009 11:32

i had that done a few years ago, never got my eyebrows waxed again, sorry to tell you but it damaged my skin and i had a mark for quite a long time...

Wish me luck. Leaving in 10 to take ds to nursery, then going straight to salon.

It looks like an open wound to me. Get antiseptic on it!

I think you should go back to the salon certainly and ask to speak to the manager. Get hold of Aloe vera if you can, that should take the sting out of it.

Ouch.

Good luck.

Just back from the salon.

The lassie had a look at the injury. Doesn't know how it could have happened. It's never happened to anyone before. No, the top layer of skin hasn't come off (WTF???). No, it won't bruise, waxing doesn't bruise unless it wasn't tight enough. Perhaps that side was more sensitive because I'm ovulating.

etc etc

She put some tea tree mixed with moisturiser on it.

No apology

No offer of a refund

Denied that it was anything to do with her waxing technique.

So I got the bosses mobile number and left.

Have tried the bosses number but no answer.

thats really shit. so you had your eyebrows waxed and totally coincidently got a mystery injury just under your eyebrow on the same day, but she didnt do it! if she had apologised/been good about it i would leave it at that, but as she's been rubbish i would now take it further, tell boss you at least want your money back!
