If I buy DUO Boots in a larger calf than I need can I wear them more like wellingtons with jeans tucked in

I can't find any proper wellingstons that are calf fit apart from Hunter Festival which are lace-up (the Huntress is too small in the calf - I need 44cms).

But the Hunter Festival is £75 whereas I can get these Duo Boots in 46cm for £80 which are lovely leather which will give me plenty of room to tuck jeans in to walk dog.

Or am I missing something? They could slip down?

I think the leather is quite stiff on those so don't think they's slip down that much.

Wellies much more practical ,is the huntress the wide fitting one?

I don't think they'd slip down - not if your jeans are tucked into them

yes, the Huntress is wide fitting just not wide enough.

I'm just a bit loathe to spend £75 on a pair of wellies when I could get some nice leather ones.

I don't tend to walk the dog in much mud (more fields) but I'm a short-arse so I always get dirty on the first few inches of jeans when I'm wearing hiking boots.

They look quite robust those boots don't they?

Have you tried muck boots irrc they are made of neopropene (?) and claim to expand to fit "virtually" any calf size (my horsey friends love them)

as they are leather make sure you care for them properly creams and protective sprays etc...

Yes, my MIL wears the neoprene ones - didn't think of that - off to hunt the net.

Protective creams and sprays - I don't think I've ever done that

Ooh they are nice boots. I'm tempted myself. However they are nubuk so I'd be worried about spoiling them by walking in muddy fields. How about some gaiters (sp?) to go over the bottom of your jeans with your walking boots - not very stylish but they do the job. And you could get the boots aswell!
