Pamina, I was in the same situation myself the other week, attending a posh wedding and six months pg. I brought a nice pair of black maternity trousers from Next, which were about £20, a nice black wrap maternity top from Dorothy Perkins which was about £25, a nice embroidered cream pashmina from Tie Rack which was £30, and just wore some strappy but comfortable sandals, borrowed a black hat from a friend, and I felt very smart, although I was abit concerned about wearing black to a wedding, but everyone said how nice I looked and although it'll probably be too warm to wear for a wedding I have at the end of May, its all clothes that I can wear again and I found the pashmina a very worthwhile investment!

It is just an idea but why not check to see what they have on ebay????

I think many people have been in your position and then try to recoup the costs by selling the outfit. Also isn't there a Maternity exchange thing on the internet I think i saw a programme on Discovery Health about one>

Goog Luck

Pamina, I was on-line shopping yesterday for some maternity stuff and found this site: www.funmum.com. I ordered some trousers from them but they haven't arrived yet so can't say what they are like, but it's worth a look. Also tried topshop, Dorothy Perkins, and Next on-line.

we were browsing thru the topshop site at work yesterday, obviously for research purposes

i particularly like how you can browse thru with the prices underneath each item. v swish.

topshop stuff is nice (except the jeans which just don't fit me), but i don't think there's anything particularly smart at the moment. the stock changes fairly often though. how about formes? or a posh maternity boutique?

when i went to a wedding when i was 8 mths pg with dd1 i bought a frock from evans normal range(size 16 i think, i was a size 12 pre-pg) which was sort of animal print edged with pink (sounds revolting i know, but was lovely)

pamina that skirt would work well post-pg too, with it being elasticated at the waist.

hoxtonchick Thu 10-Mar-05 10:36:28
