I went to Harvey Nicks, got a Dries van Noten charcoal velvet jacket with a huge collar and a shot silk orange full length skirt...hmm and have worn both since smile so understand your urge to be different. (haven't seen anything of late though!)

Congratulations SnoopDog, why not just go for all three colours and really get into the scottish theme..I'm loving this one for you..
Tartan gown

i did green.inspired by this one

mazzystartled Fri 24-Oct-08 23:15:03

go to liberty - they have wonderful, glamourous stuff

bundle - i flirted with a dries van noten dress for my wedding, but ended up taking it back, sort of wish i hadn't

monsoon?

SnoopDog Fri 24-Oct-08 23:16:08

i am not sure about that dress on me,

i am not scottish,

i like this in the niche collection, 6 along, peacock seattle, but it is too expensive, and possibally too, well, you know, much

SnoopDog Fri 24-Oct-08 23:17:40

dragon, i tried something simliar today,

i liked it,

my mum and sis loved it,

it is not the 'one' though smile

Dragonbutter Fri 24-Oct-08 23:18:24

it's beautiful. good taste.

SnoopDog Fri 24-Oct-08 23:18:25

bundle,

very similar to what i am thinking of having made for me

SnoopDog Fri 24-Oct-08 23:19:48

i tried this today, and for a 'traditional' dress i liked it

Dragonbutter Fri 24-Oct-08 23:21:49

traditional dresses look great in black and white pics. my green dress looked drab in black and white pics but good in colour.

samsonara Fri 24-Oct-08 23:23:11

I realy like the black Ravenna and the peacock seattle is a lovely colour.

bundle Fri 24-Oct-08 23:25:07

the monsoon style is gorgeous and really good value, and you could really splash out on an amazing shrug/jacket or even a handmade shawl.

SnoopDog Fri 24-Oct-08 23:26:01

oh my, dragon,

the wedding dress lady today mentioned madam butterfly when i said i liked suzanne neville

Dragonbutter Fri 24-Oct-08 23:30:22

the madam butterfly is beautiful. more green than is showing in those pics.
i tried it on after a day of boring white dresses and loved it.

Hey snoop, congrats and all.

How tall are you? only I think the maxi style works best if taller imo.

S1ur Fri 24-Oct-08 23:39:42

simple and green

simple and black

heh, not that you're going for simple! I will shuddup grin

SnoopDog Fri 24-Oct-08 23:45:24

slur,

too green,

too black,

lol,

i am 5, 9,

pale, washed out interesting skin,

red hair, loads of natural curls,

shoulder length at the moment,

I had a Suzanne Neville dress - she makes such amazing gowns and that peacock colour is just stunning.

Dragonbutter Fri 24-Oct-08 23:49:00

i saw a beautiful one in my dressmakers shop last week. (i popped in to say hello)
it was gold(ish) with dusky pink embroidery and lovely detail but no sparkles.
would look great with your hair and skin.

SnoopDog Fri 24-Oct-08 23:58:27

what do you all think about a black dress,

with ivory sash,

Dragonbutter Sat 25-Oct-08 00:00:15

sounds good.
presumably you wouldn't wear the sash a la miss great britain.

www.net-a-porter.com/product/34924 might be a bit quirkie
