What is French Terry?

Sounds like a geezer down the marked to me, but anyway....

If a fabric is described as "French Terry", does that mean towelling? I am talking about the Boden Toasty Zip Through. Anyone have it? I am thinking it could be just the thing for my winter of mat leave, to cheer up endless jeans....
