have ordered this caryn franklin frock

for my brother's engagement do

DH reckons it will do nothing for me

i rarely wear dresses, in fact i only two other dresses.

i am an hourglass, with large bum and boobs. quite short.

legs quite decent up to about mid thigh

what do you think?

the other thing i liked was this

beaded tunic but in black

wide leg trousers

what do you thikn?

Oh I like the dress.

Personally not keen on tunics and trousers <pulls face>.

Get some stonking great heels for the dress lulumama and you will look fabulous.

lulumama Thu 09-Oct-08 20:03:11

thank you!

i have very high black patent wedges, that mean i have to cling to DHs arm all night and cannot walk unaided, and a pair of cone heel patent shoes that tie with a ribbon

thick black tights?

<<fashion novice>>

lulumama Thu 09-Oct-08 20:03:42

do you think i could wear the tunic as a dress?

or will it look like i am half dressed

twinsetandpearls Thu 09-Oct-08 20:03:54

Do the dress with fab shoes.

i like the dress...but my calfs are shite from teh toes up so I couldn't get away with it.

I don't like hte tunic. Too plain from teh belly button upwards.

Like teh trousers though and lover the top with the trousers.

<have you ordered from Simply Be before? What are they like, (style and quality)? Do they cater for big bums and (comparatively) narrow waists?>

lulumama Thu 09-Oct-08 20:07:20

thanks, i hope it looks nice !

have a beautiful black pashmina with a beaded fringe and a lovely vintage bag that were both my grandmothers...

not ordered before, hoping it is ok!

not good with sleeveless or halter neck, too mcuh norkage and bingowings!

EffiePerine Thu 09-Oct-08 20:08:48

am also hourglass (when not pg) and the dress is a very good shape and will look great

twinsetandpearls Thu 09-Oct-08 20:09:10

I have bought Anna Scholz stuff before and the quality has been goof, I have a big bum and comparatively narrow waist. Quite a few of the outfits I have bought from there people comment on - in a good way.

I recently bought some Caryn Franklin shoes and they were small.

slackrunner Thu 09-Oct-08 20:10:42

cone heel patent shoes sound perfect

slackrunner Thu 09-Oct-08 20:11:18

and thick-ish tights good also

lulumama Thu 09-Oct-08 20:13:15

great ! thank you all

i have smallish waist in comparison to the rest of me.

have had an anna scholz black two piece for best part of 7 years and it has worn very well, got it from debenhams, i have worn it for black tie dos and it is very elegant

All three are fantastic - wouldn't wear the top and trousers myself now, but I would have when I was younger. Like the tunic they show with the trousers slightly better, mind you.

lulumama Thu 09-Oct-08 20:20:17

will let you know how it looks when it arrives.. smile thank you

frumpygrumpy Thu 09-Oct-08 20:20:41

lulu, that dress is heaven and, along with your description of you, I can picture it beautifully! xxx

I am a trousers girl but lately, along with the slow unveiling of self, I bought two dresses. I feel very gorgeous in both of them (one with summer flop flops, one with winter knee high boots).

You must wear it with shoes that are comfy though........I find shoes get harder to walk on as the night progresses (nothing to do with wine I'm sure, more to do with heat). If you are wobbling or need to take them off, it just makes you look like a dress novice.

The tunic.....its lovely, but its lovely for lunch not an engagement do. IMHO!!!! [style shithead] grin

frumpygrumpy Thu 09-Oct-08 20:22:32

simple jewelery because it has a big sash, could do big bangle though........

lulumama Thu 09-Oct-08 20:27:51

bless you darling frumpy ! grin

glad to hear you are slowly unveiling <<oo-er>>

am also a style shithead, see threads passim!

frumpygrumpy Thu 09-Oct-08 20:34:07

<<flashes bobos>> wink

Hope it fits beautifully, I will watch with interest........ nice to see you lovely girl x.

beansontoast Thu 09-Oct-08 20:42:26

def ll look fab...i have been into your profile!(all of you are damm fine)

tunic and no no...not on an hour glass and not for a paaarty!

lulumama Fri 10-Oct-08 20:34:11

thank you all !

it did not arrive today... hope it comes tomorrow. am desperate to try it on!

Swedes Fri 10-Oct-08 20:58:14

The dress is lovely and you will look great in it. You look stunning in that green top in your profile pics, could you perhaps find a wrap (and a corsage?) in that colour to finish off the outfit.

Have a lovely time.

harleydarkside Fri 10-Oct-08 20:59:16

i had to click to find out what a frock was!

lulumama Tue 14-Oct-08 14:33:50

thank you !!

it arrived today. i have just tried it on. i really like it. it is just the right lenght and feels nice and heavy and swishy

black patent ribbon tie shoes look good with it

am going to try and find , as per swedes advice an emerald green wrap or something to set it off

i have a black feather thingie to wear in my hair and i shall get out my best jewels!

mynameisluka Tue 14-Oct-08 19:35:48

That is a bloomin gorgeous dress! I had a quick peep at your profile too. I bet you look amazing in it. Have a great time at the engagement do.

lulumama Tue 14-Oct-08 20:10:50
