Woman looked to be in her late 60's/70's.

Wearing what looked like a pink mini, knobbly knotted knees and legs, mushroom tights and white granny type wedge open backed sandals. Purple jacket over the top, red handbag, scraped back long grey hair in a ponytail capped with a yellow rose and a pigeon's feather (I kid you not about the pigeon feather).

She got on the bus I was on. Everyone stared. She took the jacket off and lo and behold it was a strappy sundress with ruches she hand a black elasticated belt under her ample bosom.

She sounds delightfully eccentric and I would applaud her for not having given in to a tide of greige crimplene.

It was the pigeon feather that did it for me.

There is a mums at shcool who only wears mens clothes and shoes, and has a mens haircut. She is married. What's this about?

Reminds me of the poem: When I am an old woman I shall wear purple
With a red hat which doesn't go and doesn't suit me.
And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves
And satin sandals, and say we've no money for butter.
I shall sit down on the pavement when I'm tired
And gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells
And run my stick along the public railings
And make up for the sobriety of my youth.
I shall go out in my slippers in the rain
And pick the flowers in other people's gardens...

But maybe I ought to practice a little now?
So people who know me are not too shocked and surprised
When suddenly I am old, and start to wear purple.

There was an aged transvestite in our town for many years. Used to wear miniskirts and heeled mules and lipstick. Not the most cosmopolitan town in the world but no-one even batted an eyelid after the first sight.

I like your style, Professor Zapp. Other role models for old age.

theres an old man/lady who lives near me who always wears skin tight pink leopard print leggings with a pink mini over the top, white cowboy boots and a big furry coat. he/she sometimes has a white cowboy hat on aswell and pulls a pink trolley case with him/her everywhere!! he/she has a white blonde wig on and an unusual amount of grey stubble visible through the makeup!!
he/she always gets funny looks and jibes but he/she always looks happy and always looks proud to be who he/she is
the old woman sounds quite eccentric and good on her for still feeling like a sex bomb at her age

My old landlady used to wear Daisy Duke hot pants all summer ... she was nearly 60.

She was lovely and didn't give a damn what anyone thought (and her very staid husband was delighted)
But I used to hide if I saw her out in public

Ooo i love a local eccentric.

we have the shouters.

First one is a very pleasant oldish man who sings 'baa baa black sheep" and "jingle bells" very loudly while trotting down the street.

Second one is a perfectly normal looking old lady who pulls a shopping trolley but shouts "you are all fucking cunts" at anybody who is sitting in the window of the bakery cafe. (not Greggs BTW)

I saw an old lady cycling up our road recently wearing some sort of purple outfit which included a cape! Was v. envious of her fabulousness!
