Yes I remember. I would go as far to say it was "revolutionary". Great quality but in a a catalogue! And fast deliveries. It was whatsisname George thingy who started it wasn't it? Who then became George at Asda.

But I'm old. Read the 20th anniversary special Marie Claire the other day and I could VIVIDLY remember the front cover of the first ever issue.

82?
They used to splash that across some of their tops..
yeah they were good quality back then. I used to love them. I don't get much from there now. Their shoes/boots can still be Ok though.

That was better when it first started, too.

was 1982 - hence all the kids clothes that say Est. 1982 - i wasn't buying clothes then as I was 6 and my folks were skint - it was jumble sales or handmedowns for us!

i remember it well, only did 2 or 3 of each size in each store. lots more expensive then though.
i have some brochures still from that time, absolutely gorgeous clothes.

Pretty sure it was 1982 as I bought my "going away" outfit from there in 1983 and it was the place for post-teen/pre-middle aged shoppers then!

I remember buying some lace up brogues, 2 really brilliant sweatshirts which lasted for years and a stripy top that I loved dearly

I remember when the catalogue had real fabric samples in it...

oh i remember
i was a student at the time and it was just out of my reach budget wise!
I bought a navy Next skirt suit for my first ever job interview.

our Next opened it's own hair salon upstairs too - used to have my hair cut there

It was definitely 80s. The first thing I ever bought from there was a suit - it was coral pink with cream vertical stripes. The jacket was short with puffed long sleeves and the skirt was longish and fared. I wore it with a ruffle neck blouse underneath and a sting of pearls.

oh I used to love it when we got the catalogues with the swatches in, had forgotten about those, far better than the stuff they churn out now

Do you remember when they had nearly every other shop on the high street - Next Cafe, Next Jewellery, etc?

I remember the one where I was at university opening its cafe - felt like the height of sophistication.
