Where can I get the men to wear at my wedding, that isn't too "weddingy"??!!

We're getting married next August! grin
DP is being a complete DIVA about what he wears. I have managed to dissuade him from RED CRUSHED VELVET FLARED SUIT (ffs, I know). My bridesmaids are wearing
I think I want a lime green and bright pink theme to the wedding. DP doesnt go for the usual wedding outfits, and he doesnt want to wear waistcoat, cravat, or anything like that.
Style people, please help me find something on a small budget that looks cool, not weddingy, but not really scruffy either!!

Linen suit? Something light like cream/stone, nice for summer, just a white open neck shirt. Boden sell good ones.

I love the idea of linen suits, and liked the idea of putting the men in linen suits with lime green/hot pink waistcoats! I think he wants something colourful and out of the ordinary, when I suggested something lighter than the RED velvet, he suggested a white john travolta style suit with black shirt shock

Oh god, what am I going to do?!?!

<sorry - totally distracted by typo in thread title which made me wonder not only where you were going to get men to wear but how you were going to wear them! grin >

PinkPurple Sat 04-Oct-08 22:48:19

this? grin

ScareyBitchFeast Sat 04-Oct-08 22:49:33

love the dress op
how about a kilt?

PinkPurple Sat 04-Oct-08 22:50:33

although all joking aside...might a zoot suit appeal to him?

solidgoldbrass Sat 04-Oct-08 22:50:37

Oh put all the men in peach tulle and sequinned slippers. Then you wear a tailcoat and top hat, and you will look so much better.

PinkPurple Sat 04-Oct-08 22:51:22

some of these are really cool

So what you want is a hot pink linen suit...

Flum Sat 04-Oct-08 22:57:15

Is he happy for you to decide what he wears then???? Blimey impressive you will definately bw in charge at this wedding eh!

Personally I would like to see blokes in morning suits, ordinary suits etc

geraldinetheluckygoat Sat 04-Oct-08 22:57:29

LOL didnt notice my typo!! Pinkpurple I dare not show him the pinkpanther suit, he will probably yell "That's THE ONE!!"
Yes it might appeal to him, he loves retro clothes, and usually goes for seventies stuff on the rare occasions we get out!
I LIKE the idea of the men in peach tulle and slippers, solidbrass, but alas I already have my dress and I fear it might clash...

Flum Sat 04-Oct-08 22:59:11

Also the more classic the bloke looks the better the photos date which.... don't forget will be up in your living room for up to 60 odd years depending on how long you live,,,,,

geraldinetheluckygoat Sat 04-Oct-08 22:59:59

No, flum, I think he likes me to suggest, so he can veto, I think!! I really really wish, he would just let me dress him!!
shock at leterhosen and hot pink linen suit!!

geraldinetheluckygoat Sat 04-Oct-08 23:00:51

I LIKE the idea of mobsters, Zipi, waistcoats and no jackets would look cool too...I wonder if you can hire this type of thing...Hiring anything other than traditional grooms stuff seems impossible.
