Pennies Tue 23-Sep-08 21:01:53

Mac eyeshadow is the best and def worth the extra money IMO.

lovelysongbird Tue 23-Sep-08 21:04:26

thanks pennies, i like light and medium browns, any suggestions?

fishie Tue 23-Sep-08 21:05:00

most definitely. no7 is not as strongly pigmented as mac/bb and the colours are not as nice. well brown is brown but ykwim

I've never really got on with Mac but love Bobbi Brown. If ever there was a time when you need to let the overly-made-up ladies get their claws on you, this is it . Will you have the chance to go in and let them do the whole spelling/testing spiel?

Re - is it worth the extra money - I would say yes. Not a necessity, obviously, but I think there's a definate difference in quality.

Pennies Tue 23-Sep-08 21:06:32

Oooh - they've got such a broad range that I could even begin to give advice on colours. And surely half the fun of the treat is going and trying them on in the shop? How about you get the lady to do a trial make over on you!

Happy birthday for next week!

it's the quality of Mac and BB that make the colours stay truer...they don't go muddy and they don't disappear halfway through the day...I love Mac eyeshadow and I love BB lip glosses and bronzer

That would be selling, not spelling blush. I'm not casting doubts on your spelling skills.

I went for a Bobbi Brown makeover a few weeks back and splurged on so much stuff that i felt sick when i got home.

BUT...experimenting (as taught) has demonstrated to me straight away that it was worth it. Everything is so lovely and glides on so easily. It's just the look I wanted. I am delighted.

No mnore cheap crap fro em.

shhhh Tue 23-Sep-08 21:08:50

YES.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No question !!!!!!!!!!!!

I use MAC eye shadows (pigments) and they last all day..unlike cheaper brands imo. Gorgeous colours as well.

Do it!!!!!!!!!!!

moondog Tue 23-Sep-08 21:08:59

Eyeshadow glides on like a dream and the eye concealer stuff is unbelievable

lovelysongbird Tue 23-Sep-08 21:09:15

oh great you have sold it to me.
hmmm im not sure if my dd will let them try things out on me.
do you have to pay for a makeover?

lovelysongbird Tue 23-Sep-08 21:11:12

well at christmas i had some lip injection from too faced is it? i like that.

singingtree Tue 23-Sep-08 21:11:33

Bobbi Brown tinted moisturiser is amazing

Megglevache Tue 23-Sep-08 21:11:55

Moonie.

Eye stuff...tell me more please my dark circles are criminal right now.

moondog Tue 23-Sep-08 21:12:08

No
The woman did me in what is apparently the signature BB look and gave me a booklet describing all the steps in which she wrote the product names in appropriaTE order.

mabanana Tue 23-Sep-08 21:13:49

Love Bobbi Brown lipgloss. I have lots of bits of half used cheaper stuff, but when I buy Bobbi Brown lip stuff, I use every scrap, so yes, worth it to me.
Makeover at the counter is free, and really good there. ie you don't look like a drag queen.

norkmaiden Tue 23-Sep-08 21:14:48

Moondog, where did you go to get it done?

Katisha Tue 23-Sep-08 21:15:08

Yep Bobbi Brown is really good. Costs a lot but I think is worth it. Let them have a go at you.

moondog Tue 23-Sep-08 21:15:39

It's called 'eye brightener' and without direction would never have got it. Just a boring little pit of brown stuff. But, blended over lid and under eye it's unreal. Doesn't have that slightly flourescent sparkly tint of Touche Eclat type stuff.
Aye, tinte moisturiser is fab and she taught me how to apply it with a brush whach has been another enormous revelation to me.

Honestly, am very sceptical of stuff like this but it has made a big difference. Well worth the ££££££££ (Put it this way-I had to tell dh that BB was a CLOTHES SHOP OR HE WOULD HAVE HAD A HAEMOTOMA!)

lovelysongbird Tue 23-Sep-08 21:15:40

moondog how long did it take
what did you buy?
how much will i spend?

moondog Tue 23-Sep-08 21:15:57

bROWNS OF cHESTER

mabanana Tue 23-Sep-08 21:16:46

All the counter girls are nice, and there really is no hard sell at all. They can do your whole face and you walk away with a lipstick and it's totally fine.

Dropdeadfred Tue 23-Sep-08 21:17:04

lol at Moondog deceiving her DH...grin

swish your hair and say 'but I'm worth it'

Megglevache Tue 23-Sep-08 21:17:06

I reckon about £170.
