What to wear with leggings?

I swore by them last year and so, have gone and bought 2 more pairs. One brown and one a charcoal colour, but I have nothing to wear with them.
In the summer I wore them with tunics etc but since the weather is changing I want to be able to wear them in the winter.

Obviously I need something to cover the bum and long sleeved.
I'm thinking for the school run.

I'd probably wear the brown ones with uggs and charcoal ones with boots or ballet pumps.

What does everyone else do, that is if you wear them.
I know leggings are hated by alot of MN grin

Wear them with tunics but with long cardi's over the top!

Jumper dress
Tunic dress over a long sleeved t-shirt
Denim mini

I tend to still wear fairly summery stuff I just layer!

yes, deffo jumper dresses. or any shortish knitted dresses. layers are your friend.

I'm a bit of a layer virgin.

Probably because I get so hot pushing the pushchair about.

Isn't it too hot?

Maybe I need to look for some long sleeve tops and polo necks then.

I agree they just aren't warm enough for this time of year, even with Ugg boots i'm freezing.

what is the general opinion on leggings with pregnant bump in mat wear? would it look too ridiculous? A bit Mr Men?

Nbg Wed 17-Sep-08 08:08:18

Pinky, I got mine from Primark.
£3 a pair. Bargain.
Last year was Sainsburys, reduced to 75p grin

I've seen a few dress/top things, I just can't decide on colours and I will deffo have to get some black biker type boots cos all my boots are either brown or a sandy colour.
Your right about the pumps but if its a dry day they are great for me cos I get so hot.

Wellies, I wore mine loads last year when I was pg.
In fact I had a couple of fab long tshirts from topshop (mat) and they covered everything. They were fitted too so it was quite a flattering look.

ok, many thanks for that, nbg

MerlinsBeard Wed 17-Sep-08 10:50:59

PinkyDinkyDooToo Wed 17-Sep-08 10:56:12

bundle Wed 17-Sep-08 10:56:53

and I don't have "hot" feet either. I'm in Central London, if that makes a difference

NoblesseOblige Wed 17-Sep-08 10:58:06

definitely something that covers your ass and ends mid thigh-ish. dh reckons i am a fashion victim as i insist the dds keep to these rules too (they are 6 & 2) blush

NoblesseOblige Wed 17-Sep-08 10:59:26

wear boots to amend coldy feets?

i am trying to find boden-esque lookylikes on my thread if anyone wants to help...hint hint...grin wink

HaventSleptForAYear Wed 17-Sep-08 13:42:23

Oh yes. Foot wear with boots.

I keep seeing people in leggings with a gap and then ballet pumps.

Too cold for me plus I wax my legs so 2 out of every 3 weeks the bit of my leg poking out would be hairy-ish.

Tights under leggings? Isn't that a bit clingy and hot?

[whispers] pop-socks?

Or alternatively what type of boots (for smart, not casual).
